Package Manager looks like it's working, but it's not!

I don't know if my PHP setup allows uploads or not, I'm not understanding what you are asking.
I'm on a shared server.
Windows based.
I had the support person give "write & modify" permissions to all directories (and everything in them).
So I think every directory and file is read/write/modify permissioned.

This problem has been on-going for months.
I'm just tired of wasting my time on this forum.

Is your PHP setup allowing file uploads?
When you say you have write permissions, are you sure your server has permissions as well?
( That is, is your server configured to use your permissions, or are the files world writable = chmod 777 )

Actually, I was about to come back and edit my question a bit - most probably your php setup allows file uploads, as you have managed to install a mod through the package manager - and it would not work with php not allowing files to be uploaded (unless you uploaded through FTP or something. )

I'm a bit lost though, as to what could be causing that then...

I did upload all my mods through my FTP.
Today I finally got a mod to work (in this tread).

I've got a test membership ready if someone wants to use it to troubleshoot my forum.

Just send me an email, and I'll send you the info.

Ok, now if you were unable to upload a mod package through the package manager as well, and have never been able to upload attachments etc. then perhaps the problem could be in the PHP settings.

Could you post a link to your phpinfo?
What is phpinfo.php?

FYI...
I just got off the phone with a support person for hosting my website.
He gave write/modify permissions to the whole directory where my forum is installed.

I still can't upload an image.
Is there somewhere that a path to the images is kept?
Where the "upload" feature is saying to save them to?
I think the pathway is wrong!

Could not find a memory limit set for PHP. ( I don't know if that could be a problem. )
Register Globals is ON. ( would be better OFF )

Other than that, I didn't see anything obvious there.... ::)

SMF directories can be changed with repair_settings.php, or in the case of attachments and avatars through your AdminCP.

Is there suppose to be any indication, anywhere in the forum, that "SMF Media Gallery" has been installed?

I'm sorry...
I though it was a simple question.

I'm through!

To heck with the mods!
I'll just tell my users, they can't upload images... period.

dansmark, I'm sorry to hear about the issues. It seems to me that the underlying problem is a combination of wrong ownership and/or wrong paths.

If you want, feel free to send me login details (FTP + SMF admin) via PM and I'll see what I can do.

Please do not PM me with support requests unless I invite you to.

dansmark try this:

Install new packet....

1º step: Install new packet Installed....
2º step: Apply mod NOW WHEN YOU GO TO APPLY THE MOD... see below...install this mod in other templates.

Is this your problem?

Hi dansmark, is your problem solved or do you need some assistance with this still? :)
