On NGINX you should turn off .htaccess usage since NGINX does not use .htaccess files. When using NGINX cache proxy you should leave .htaccess usage on if it is run on regular Linux system.

The error "Use of "parent" in callables is deprecated" that you see is from SMF on PHP 8.x not BotBanish. Check the backtrace in the SMF error log for the error "8192: stripslashes(): Passing null to parameter #1 ($string) of type string is deprecated." to see what file and line the error it is on. If you could just post the whole backtrace information.

We have seen that error and it is dependent on the version of PHP, javascript and the version of SMF that you use. More information would be helpful. It is a javascript issue.
