Hello, SMF 1.1.8.

How do I confirm who deleted a single post? Was it a normal user.  Today I woke up and got a fuzzing on our forum bc one of the last nights post was deleted. There is only 1 admin and one global moderator. Moderation log didnt show anything about this deleting.

Now Im thinking the origional poster deleted his own post, but how can I confirm this?

Thanks

If you don't have this action in the Moderation Log, it is done by the author of the post. If you really want to make sure about that, you can search the server access logs for the action I guess.

As for a future tip. Take deletion away from both the user and the global mod. Then, create a "moderators" board (only visible by mods/admin) and tell your mod to move any questionable posts to that board so that you can review them before YOU delete them. If you wanted to go a step further, you can allow members to move their own posts only; then create a "recycle bin" or "trash can" or whatever board, and tell members to move any posts which need to be deleted to that board and YOU will delete them. This will make is so that you see EVERYTHING before anything is deleted.

Or you can just use SMF to setup a recycle board, and you don't have to tell your users anything... then you can give permission to the recycle bin, whomever you wish, or no one but yourself.
