  With the current version you can only use in house topics for articles. You will need someone to create a custom block and/or plugin that does the task you request. Post your request in the appropriate board at the Simple Portal website where someone may fulfill your request.

  Indeed you will need to remove SP's edits from that file or from any file for that matter. A possible solution for you is to clean everything up by using the SMF Large Upgrade package, Hooks Removal and then install all your mods anew.

In the hopes I am posting this in the right sectn, here is my issue:

How to make a Right Side Block (e.g. showing latest ten posts) show itself open (maxed) by default whenever the forum start-up page (BoardIndex) launches?

I run SP in Integration mode, and upon login users land on the boardindex page. I want the block to show open by default, and I also want the block to not show (at all, not even minimized) on any other pages.

Can be done?

Yes, it can be done. Keep the SP setting in Integration mode. Then go to block list, and where you see display options make sure you set it to Portal in the "show block on" and then type in forum where it says "Custom Display Options"

That will show the right side block on only the index page, and will disappear when someone opens a board, link, etc.

I am getting the attached error when I AM trying to install this mod. And no, this field does not exist in my test database. Thanks for looking and any help you can provide.

OK more information.

I found the following fields were added to the end of the database and do not start with smf_ like the rest of the fields;

sp_articles
sp_blocks
sp_categories
sp_functions
sp_parameters

It appears that Simple Portal installed the new database fields without adding the smf_ and is looking for it "see post above". How do I rename the fields to add smf_ to these fields?

OK More information. I added the prefix smf_ to sp_functions in other words smf_sp_functions. When I try to install Simple Portal again, it renames smf_sp_functions to sp_functions thus causing the error as attached above.

I do not know what else to try at this point.

Alright than.

Found the problem and successfully installed the mod. It appears that the author is not paying attention to the MySQL table prefix: field. When I changed the field to empty/blank meaning no data and removed the table prefix from my database, the mod installed fine.

Hopefully, the author will fix this in a future release.

  The author knows precisely what he is doing. It is something that you are doing wrong or have set incorrectly with your configuration that is awry which is causing your issue. Ensure all settings in the Settings.php file are correct and also make sure your settings from Admin->Server Settings->Database and Paths are correct. (Database Prefix, Database Name)

Thank you for your comments. To make 100 percent that one of my other mods was not causing a conflict, I will setup a clean test system tomorrow. I will load 2.0.6 and create a new database and load only this mod.

Either way my findings do correct this error on an existing system. By doing a search on this very long thread  this problem has appeared several time without a solution.

More info to follow after my test.

  I can't seem to duplicate the issue you were having. I attempted to create fresh local SMF installations with db names & db prefixes identical to what appeared in your error image at SP without any problems during those tests. I am glad to here you got the issue sorted by manually adjusting tables although not an ideal solution.

Will I tried several different combinations and still had the problem with the prefix. just for grins I downloaded a fresh copy of the mod and now everything is working fine. Beats the heck out of me what was going on. Good news is that everything now appears fine.

Please how do i disable side panel or blocks from some themes? I only want to disable the side blocks. Thank You

  There are general overall settings to disable them (in all themes).
Admin->Simple Portal->Configuration->Block Settings

  You only want to hide those in specific themes? I will need to create a plugin or possibly some js to be put in a html block for that.

i used  "curve mobile theme" and when i installed simple portal it was not appearing on the theme. So i copied the index.template.php from "default theme" and replaced the one in "curve mobile theme" and it started showing all the blocks. But pls how do i disable the right and left panel from showing? I guess the scrip to be edited is in index.template.php but i don't know how, Please i need someone's help! Thank you for your time.
