Is there a way to stop new comments from flagging items as new? I want my users to -only- see new images when they click 'Unseen', or at least be able to prioritize new images before new comments.

I figured it would be nice to have a RC release at last! There are no show-stopping bugs left AFAIK.

Version 2.0 RC1                                September 26, 2009
-----------------------------------------------------------------
@ Okay, seriously, 10 months in beta and 6 public beta versions, that's more than enough... It's pretty stable now, so I'm going RC ;)
! I believe the $desc part in getEmbedObject() should be htmlspecialchar'ed... Needs to be verified.
+ Giving a try to captions below opened pictures when possible. Might be worth debating it. Please tell me if you like/dislike them.
! Fixed potential undefined index error in moderation panel
+ Added support for SMF 2.0 RC2's new Wysiwyg editor box system
! SMF2 RC2 now uses addLoadEvent() instead of add_load_event(), so replaced all tests for add_load_event() to improve compatibility
(this may cause issues on the gallery homepage with SMF2 RC1 and earlier if you have other mods using Javascript, just edit the files if it bothers you.)
* When editing an item, if it has a forced thumbnail, show it below the file browser rather than to the right of it -- better layout IMHO
! titlebg class can't be used for tall objects in SMF2 RC2 + Curve theme, so replaced it with windowbg in album pages
* A couple of changes to accomodate for mods

The "Dragooon came back for a round, how about sticking around?" fixes: (yes I like to do poetry in changelogs.)

! Users were being shown a misleading error message when trying to delete a permission profile without selecting a fallback profile for related albums
! In user albums permission area, users were sometimes being shown albums which they did not own
! "Toggle all" option was being displayed even when not needed
! Comments were failing to be deleted from moderation area

@Lolafish> I'd recommend you upgrade to SMG 2.0 RC1. There are many problems in v1.5 that are fixed only in v2.

@c-ron> Yes you can... Err... How? I don't remember right now, but it requires editing the code.

It's a bit outdated.
For instance, as I mentioned in that topic, php values are now indicated in the SMG admin settings area. Also, the credits area states whether php safe mode & apache mod_security modules are enabled. (They should be disabled for best results.)
What have you got?

Not sure I understand, but here's a snapshot of the CREDITS area:

Okay.  I upgraded to 2.0 just now (RC1), and here are my stats under CREDITS:

PHP's Safe Mode is disabled, so it won't cause any trouble to SMG. Good thing.
The Apache mod_security module isn't installed, so it won't cause any trouble to SMG's Mass Upload feature. Good thing.

Mass Upload still isn't working. I tried a small image file and larger doc file one at a time.  Nothing.

upload_max_filesize and post_max_size are both set at 30M.  I tried to mass upload a gif image that was only 1.79 KB and a pdf document that was 11.1 MB. Neither worked.  Both will upload via "add item" though, no problems.

Hey, I love 2.0!  Very sweet!  I should've done that one first. I forgot it would work with 1x v.

I made a SILENT UPDATE for RC1.
To the 10 users who downloaded it already: please re-download. You don't need to uninstall & reinstall: just extract the updated Subs-MGallery.php file into your Sources folder.
This fixes a minor bug that shows a useless link ("Details") for non-image and non-single-video/audio files.
I have yet to receive feedback on that new feature, so I may remove it in RC2.

Then you're left with the crossdomain.xml fix. Although I don't see multiple subdomains on your site... Hmm.

Yeah, and it's a PITA to make it work on SMF1 since I never use it ;)
I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered.

This gets better and better.

I love having poetry for me in awesome changelogs...man this thing has grown up to 42 kb in past 1 year. Although some of the stuff can be blamed for Nao's side comments, it is still great! :)

Well, I'm trying to get you to come back, that's all...
If you don't want to work on SMG again, that's fine by me, but then you should give me ownership, so that I could once and for all merge Aeva and SMF Media Gallery, add a permission system for Aeva and get SMG some decent exposure :P

Quoteman this thing has grown up to 42 kb in past 1 year. Although some of the stuff can be blamed for Nao's side comments, it is still great! :)
What do you mean, "blame for Nao's side comments"?

And yeah, it's grown quite a bit... I didn't even stop to think about it for the last few months.
Without counting any of the libraries used by SMG, when I came onboard back in September 2008 you had already written over 10.000 lines of code which was a feat by itself!

Now I just make a quick manual recount and it's currently ticking at close to 25.000 lines! (including French (without UTF, ain't fair), English language, converters and my Foxy! add-on, I didn't count your slideshow add-on since I don't have it.)
Okay, we're a far cry from SMF's code which probably has around 500.000 lines of code (just the Sources folder has at least 100.000 lines), but cut us some slack, we're not the SMF team ;)

Oh don't worry about it, I was just kidding. I was just saying that a part of the changelog's increase in size are your comments that we come to see in major releases.

Thanks, took me time to code this beast...although it was worth it.

SMF is a much larger project with much more members, it deserves the kind of position it has at the moment.

You should look at my latest project(I told you about it before), note to others...its not going to be public, don't get excited.

Hey there:)

Call me lazy but i can't find the $txt['mgallery_gallery'] string. And i want to translate it too:)
It's not in the /Themes/default/languages... files and obviously adding it there doesn't work well;-)(it only translates when you're on the gallery page)
So what file it's hidden in? ;-)

Ok so i have SMF Gallery Lite    2.0.8  installed, i have to remove this and upgrade to this version correct? On the download list, what one should I download? It's set to download from 2.0rc1,but i'm using 1.1.10. Help!!

Akyhne

As far as I know, you can run both galleries on the same time. As for versions, there is only one. Just grab the latest, SMFMediaGallery-2.0rc1.zip, which will work for SMF 1 as well as SMF 2.
And as always: Backup before upgrading/installing anything.

oops...lol i haven't been.  How should I do that? So if i'm using 1.1.10 and then upload is set on 2.0 or something, it should still work?

Akyhne

I guess you are referring to "Manual Install Instructions for SMF" when you say "upload is set on 2.0". It's a parse option which basically tells you how to add the mod manually, if you are having installation/removal issues. It has nothing to do with which file you download.
Just download SMFMediaGallery-2.0rc1.zip (615KB) and install it.

SMF Gallery Lite is made by another author and has nothing to do with SMG.
