Im getting similar problems,
some of my forum users are saying they can see the shoutbox but its always emply, no posts show,
I'v set the forum to force IE8 into compat mode, doesnt solve the issue,
as for as I can see, it works fine in all browsers I'v checked it in but some of my forum members get this error
Message: Unknown runtime error
Line: 256
Char: 3
Code: 0
URI: http://www.e-commerce-forum.co.uk/Themes/default/script.js?fin11

as far as I can tell it is this piece of code that is causing the trouble in script.js

// Set the "outer" HTML of an element.
function setOuterHTML(element, toValue)
{
if (typeof(element.outerHTML) != 'undefined')
element.outerHTML = toValue;
else
{
var range = document.createRange();
range.setStartBefore(element);
element.parentNode.replaceChild(range.createContextualFragment(toValue), element);
}
}

seems to be a problem with how the innerHTML and outerHTML is set out,

anyone any ideas on how to fix this,

I'v read through this whole thread and there seems to be a few people saying that they have the same problem,
clicking compat mode really isnt helping, if it did my forum would have no issues, as I said, compat mode is forced on my forum.

any help would be great,

thanks

Hi!
My Shoutbox is here:

But I want to put the shoutbox in up zone, here:

I have parsed and I wrote in Index.template:
// Hack's Park Shoutbox -->
   if (function_exists('template_shoutbox')) template_shoutbox('main');
   // <-- Hack's Park Shoutbox

Can I do it?
Thx!

Hi, vittu.
Testcase:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<title>Table outerHTML Test</title>
</head>
<body>
<table>
<tr id="test">
</tr>
</table>
<script>
var test = document.getElementById('test');
test.innerHTML = 'innerHTML pass<br>';
test.outerHTML = test.innerHTML + 'outerHTML pass';
</script>
</body>
</html>

I think it's bug of Opera, look here http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=420471 [nofollow]

, it's simple, if you want I may fix it, but I need view the code of index.template.

Naota

I have found the solution! My Shoutbox is up! hehe :) Thx!

I'm having trouble allowing members to edit their own shouts. I've set permissions allow Edit messages in Shoutbox, but these members are still not able to edit their shouts in moderation panel. Moderators can is they're allow to edit and delete.

Any ideas?

sure, in the shoutbox configurations panel, change this option:

Class style (CSS) of messages

from: "smalltext", to "text"

Any chance of getting this or any other standalone Shoutbox updated and working for RC2 ?

JCS

well, this one is working, but it have some problems with the theme, so now I'm updating it to work with the default one, also its having some problems with IE8 and opera 10.5, to be honest, it works for me on IE8, but many plp is saying it doesn't work, and in opera 10.5, the update function doesn't work, so ill check it 2, ill bring the new version of this mod asap

do you install other mods before?
did you try to install manually this mod?

I installed manually because I have a different template... ;)

Im terrified to manually install anything. Im not a coder nor do i ever have to desire to be one.

All you need is "Notepad++", "FileZilla" and 10 minutes of time.  ;)
I think problem in the "index.template.php", am I right?

SMF 2.0 shows each error in each file. This feature simplifies the installation process.  :)

yeah, u have to manually install it, it isnt hard, most of the mod are new files that you need to copy, and a few modifications to your forum files
