Where do I find docs for this mod? I mean, how do I use it?

What is the folder I upload video files to? I presume that's what you mean by "self hosted", meaning the video file is on the SMF website, not youtube, vimeo etc.  Well, that's what I'm trying to do. Is there a BBC code to refer to the file so it plays the video?

I looked on your mod page but saw no info about docs or usage. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You just place a link to a video in a post. Then in mods setting enable what video sites/settings you want to show embeded.
For hosted videos just upload to a folder o your website then link to them.

For a locally hosted file too?

I tried using the hyperlink to point at "video/myvideo.wmv", and the link is good, I can download the file from it.

Perhaps putting the links as just plain text like "http://SMF/video/myvideo.wmv" ? When you say "just place a link..." that could be done with either of those two methods, so an example would be nice.

Also, is the mod only good for the default SMF theme, or whatever theme is the default?  I presume the later. I'm not using the original SMF theme, I'm using anecdota.

The links should look like http://www.mysite.com/myfolder/movie.wmv

That's what I've got, but it just appears as a link, no video. If I click on it I can download it and it plays on my machine, but it isn't showing up as a video window in the forum pages.

I'm using SMF v. 2.0.9 with only a few mods:

Do you have wmv checked in the settings area of the mod?

I thought I did, but I only had wma, not wmv. But it still doesn't work after checking that option on.

I don't even see the link in the forum post, but when I click "modify" it shows up and is correct.

If I just add text, not a hyperlink I get a gray window that says "a plugin is needed to display this content". Clicking "modify" shows the text as a hyperlink.

Can view the html and tell me what you see where the link should be.

Also what browser/O/S are you using?

I don't know why the gray window didn't show up before but it is now. Says I need a plugin.

Ok hmm will need to update the wmv embed code for something that works for all windows versions at least.

OK, sorry to be the one to surface this issue. Let me know when you have a new version or patch ready and I'll be more than happy to test it for you.

When I try it on IE 11 the browser prompts to install the media player extension. I did, and the media player appears, but no video in it.

I do not have ie 11 if you have a site or no of a site/link that has a wmv that plays for you on ie 11 post it here and will copy the same code they use for this mod.

What did you mean, "will copy the same code they use for this mod"? I don't know of any SMF forums that host wmv.

Hmm that's whole player hoping to find one that is just O/S based or if not will have to find a good player to bundle with auto emed system.

Just installed this mod and it works great. But, I noticed that while Vimeo work on PCs (Mac and Windows) it doesn't work on my iPad (iOS 8 ) -- I get "This plug-in is not supported"

That one isn't fixable. There's simply no way to get WMV support in the browser on iOS. Cannot be done because Safari doesn't provide support for it (and there's no way to plug in support on iOS for it). Been there, tried that.
