Sure, now in the screenshot its kind of hard to tell a difference because its probably just one pixel off...

On Internet Explorer (squared where the indent is):

On Firefox (works perfectly):
hxxp:www.cooleric.com/compare/firefox.JPG [nonactive]

Thanks for your help and thanks for the great template too!

How come when I access the forums independently with these themes and go to make a post or send a PM the table continually grows wider and wider.  This screen shot was only after about 5 seconds.  It eventually exceeds the width of the screen.

After testing, it appears to only happen in FireFox on a Mac.  I've tried all other browsers on Mac and it is fine and I've tried IE on a PC and it is fine.

I see what you mean. I'll take a closer look but currently my time is limited.  ;)

??? Can you post this screenshot? I have no idea what you are talking about?

It's posted above.  It looks like it's Firefox all together.  PC or Mac.  I just had one of my members report it.  See how above where it says "New Message" is wider than the row above it?  It continues to grow wider and wider.  Use Firefox and go to www.eliterides.com.  User: test  Pass: test.  Post a reply or compose a PM and the form field you type in grows and grows and grows.

I must be blind but I don't see any screenshot? Nor am I experiencing any problems using Firefox..  :-\

edit
Okay, I've seen the problem, but I have no idea where it is coming from. This must be a standalone issue, as it works in a wrapped forum.

I fixed the image above.  I didn't realize I had it in a restricted section.

Regarding the issue, I am no longer using a standalong forum.  However, I am using an .htaccess RewriteRule that takes anyone that accesses the forums directly to the wrapped forum.  I'm thinking that maybe it is only happening when users access it that way.

Example:

Forums directly

Wrapped Forums

With the .htaccess file you get the same thing, however one is accessed directly.  Do you see it in both still?  I will double check when I get home as well.

K.  Tried it in both and still the same problem in both.  I have the forums wrapped and still run into this issue.  You do not?

Also, just realized the "All" links do not display all in a message view.

No, I don't have this problem. I may be related to the fact that you are using 1.0.5, but you are the first to report this. Have you tried the default theme to see if the problem occurs there?

You could try this, I have no idea whether it will fix this issue but there may be a change. Copy the file Post.template.php to your Portal theme directory and find this line:

<textarea class="editor" name="', $context['post_box_name'], '" rows="', $context['post_box_rows'], '" cols="', $context['post_box_columns'], '" onselect="storeCaret(this);" onclick="storeCaret(this);" onkeyup="storeCaret(this);" onchange="storeCaret(this);" tabindex="2"', isset($context['post_error']['no_message']) || isset($context['post_error']['long_message']) ? ' style="border: 1px solid red;"' : '', '>', $message, '</textarea>

replace with:

<textarea class="inputbox" name="', $context['post_box_name'], '" rows="', $context['post_box_rows'], '" cols="', $context['post_box_columns'], '" onselect="storeCaret(this);" onclick="storeCaret(this);" onkeyup="storeCaret(this);" onchange="storeCaret(this);" tabindex="2"', isset($context['post_error']['no_message']) || isset($context['post_error']['long_message']) ? ' style="border: 1px solid red;"' : '', '>', $message, '</textarea>

This way the textfield is using Mambo's definitions.

For as far as I know there is a limit in displaying 'all' topics or messages. That could be the problem, again, try the default theme and see if this problem persists.

Thanks.  I'll try it out.  I'm not at home to test, but one of my members PM'd me that it was fixed.

BTW, how did you get it so that when you change the mambo template it changes the forum template as well on your test site?

xenovanis

Glad to hear that is was fixed  :)

Actually, this is a very simple, but definately not a perfect solution. All that happens is that both themes are called by url, like

index.php?mos_change_template=247portal-b-blue&option=com_smf&Itemid=26?theme=8

However, this will not last longer then a session before it changes back to the default settings.

Kindred

this actually should be very easy...

modify the template chooser module in mambo to call the SSI theme change functions...  That should set your SMF theme when you change the mambo theme...   then the only thing you have to do is associate each mambo theme with an SMF theme...

It appears the "All" function does not work in any theme, including the Default, when wrapped in the 247 themes.  Something must be throwing it off.  Where is the function for "All"?

I must visit the Mambo/Joomla sub-board more frequently. This is really great work xenovanis, well done :)

Incredible! I've been using the 247SMF theme for quite a while, but have been having a few issues with it. This looks like exactly what I've been needing!

But I have a question before I break something (I seem to be good at that)... All the discussion in the thread seems to be referencing Mambo.. after all, it is in the Mambo/SMF board.. But would I be correct in assuming that these will work in a Joomla installation, as well (for the SMF, obviously, wrapped in a Joomla site)?

I'm currently running Joomla 1.0.3 Stable, SMF 1.1 RC1, Joomla-SMF Bridge 1.0.1b.

Would I need to update any of those in order to apply these themes to my installation of SMF?

Thanks so much for the help!

OK guys and gals, I'm new to this, so bear with me.

I have Joomla 1.0.2 and SMF 1.1RC1 with the latest bridge installed.

I have Joomla using the 247portal grey theme and it works great. However, I'm confused by how to use the themes posted in the beginning of this forum.

I have installed other themes using the thems installer in SMF without any problems, but when I try to install this theme, it does not work. Exactly what do I need to do to install it? Thanks!

NEVERMIND... For some reason the Portalcolor files were not there yesterday when I checked - just the links. They're there now... I've donwloaded and installed and it works great.

I've got this theme working great now.

One question, though.

The theme works great as long as it's wrapped in Joomla, but as soon as it becomes unwrapped it looks crazy.

Now, for the most part it stays wrapped. Clicking any link, even "opening in a new window" keeps it wrapped, but some search engines managed to index the in the smf subdirectory, which has it open without the wrapper.

Now this is a rare occurance, but something I'd rather avoid. Is there a way to make it force itself to stay wrapped? If not, is there a way for the entire style sheet to stick with the forum if it's unwrapped. It appears that the font info disappears when it's unwrapped and everything goes to IE's defaults.

My preference, of course, would be for the forum to stay wrapped 100% of the time (it already does 99% of the time).

My URL is: hxxp:www.babieswithglasses.org [nonactive] You can click the forum link there and see it in its wrapped glory.

To see the forum unwrapped go to hxxp:www.babieswithglasses.org/smf [nonactive]

Also, is there a way to add a link to the website's homepage at the top of the forum. The current "Home" link goes to the forum's home page. I'd like to have a "Forum Index" link and a "Home" Link, or get rid of those links all together and have them appear on the Joomla menu only.

xenovanis,

Thanks! That works great!

Thanks too for the great theme.

Now, for a follow-up. Could some code be created that will either present a clickable link or (preferebly) redirect the user instead of just stating "'Direct Access to this location is not allowed?"

EDIT: I found the redirect code in the same thread you referred me to. It works well. Thanks!

xenovanis

You can change the text "Direct Access to this location is not allowed" to a link, something like:

<a href="http://www.yoursite.com">Sorry, you are not allowed to access this section. Please visit our site at ...</a>

There were some attempts to redirect from this page, but for as far as I know none of them were succesfull and all ended up in a 500 Internal Server Error. You might want to search for "block access" within this board to find some more information.
