It's still in beta, but is quite stable. Beta3 (a public beta) was released on Saturday, and shortly thereafter, several minor bugs were discovered, but I've been fixing them as they've been reported, so you shouldn't run into any more problems.

I did the embedded bridge, but when I click on "gallery" it asks me to login to gallery2....shouldnt it recognize I was logged into my smf and just continue on seamlessly?

Yes it should... I'll take a look at your setup later and see what's causing that.

Admin -> Features and Options -> Gallery
Enter the path to your gallery directory in the "Gallery Path" box and save the settings.

Is this still in Beta or is it completed ?  I can't access the web site right now, SMF gives a database error.

Oldiesmann

It's in beta. I'll look into the database issue. I just switched to a new host using a cPanel backup, but I would still expect everything to be there.

Oldiesmann

Ok. It's fixed now. Somehow the tables didn't get created on the new host (the database was there, but the tables weren't). I imported a backup from the old host and just took it out of maintenance mode.

Two questions
1. Does the Bridge work with G2's multisite option?
2. Is there a multisite option for smf?
Thanks
david

1. Yep. In fact, I use that myself:
http://galleryproject.oldiesmann.us/index.php?action=gallery - main gallery
http://archie.oldiesmann.us/index.php?action=gallery - multisite gallery

2. No there isn't.

Not at all. Just make sure you download the "Non-Bridged" version.

I installed SMF on my server where I already had Gallery 2 installed.

I installed the smf_g2-Beta3[1][1].1.tar.gz file within SMF and everything appeared to intall correctly.  It is listed in the Packages>installedPackages

BUT

There is NO gallery tab/button/menu either across the top or in Features and Options.  Nothing.  No configurations nor any links or indiucations that it is installed other than the Packages page.

Help...

Oldiesmann

Are you using UTF-8? If so, you'll have to install the english-utf8 package (available in the Languages section of the download area on the project site).

If you're not sure, there are two ways to tell:

1. Admin -> Forum Maintenance

If you're using UTF-8, you'll see an option saying "Convert HTML-entities to UTF-8 characters". Otherwise you'll see something like "Convert database and all data to UTF-8".

2. Right-click on the page and choose "View Source" (or "View Page Source" if you're using Firefox).

If you're using UTF-8, you'll see this line near the top of the source code:

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />

Otherwise you'll see this:
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1" />

Michael,

     First - I am using utf-8.  Both checks check out.

      as for installing the patch...I am not having a good go at this.  The language packs are not isntalling properly.  I tried all 3 versions (zip, gz and tar), and none of them are a valid archive... (or so SMF says when it tries to install them. )

I get the following message:

The package you tried to upload either is not a valid package or has become corrupted.

I find it odd that 3 different archives do the same thing.  But I uninstalled the bridge (The only mod I added)  This is a fresh install as I am still looking for something that will communicate with Gallery2.

May I ask again - any thoughts?
Vince

I was referring to the "Languages" section at http://galleryproject.oldiesmann.us/index.php?action=tpmod;dl - not the one here. The packages here are language packs for SMF and are just archives containing all the relevant files, not actual packages.

What about PHP Safe mode...
Anybody who knows if Gallery2 can run with safe mode disabled?

I have installed SMF without any problem, and also Joomla is now running without any problems...

But i can't get Gallery 2.2.1 to run without safe mode disabled.

I once found a patched version of Gallery 2, but this was only version 2.1.2
(Found at: hxxp:www.netsons.org/viewtopic.php?t=1536 [nonactive])

What is your expirience with this problem?
