It's been a week sense I uploaded my mod and it still hasn't been approved yet. Does any one know how long this takes.

Hi BigJoe,
As you will shortly learn it takes time to manually validate code. It takes even more time when the team doing it is composed of all volunteers. You have been here for quite a while so I would expect you to search for some of the documentation on the approval process.

Also removing all aspect of we are all volunteers, one thing the team does say all the time and that is real life takes precedent, and unfortunately when real life becomes a ****** then things suffer.  I promise you that it will be looked at and you will get a message saying its been approved or if there is something that needs fixed, but I do ask that you take a deep breathe for now and remember that soon it will be the time when a big fat guy who is clinically obese, a guy who drinks a lot and has white hair and white beard comes a knocking ... and no i am not on about Santa i am on about k@.

And finally: you may consider to take advantage of the Mod Development board.

You can't see anything in that board? ???
Strange...it could be a permission setting...

Would you try that:
* go to http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?action=profile;area=groupmembership
* you should see the "Community Support Helper", on the right click "Join Group"
as soon as...Gary I think will approve your membership you should be able to enter that board.

If I remember correctly you don't need approval.

I joined and it said I now belong to that group. So I went back to that link and I still can't post in that forum.

Thas true for the community helper group, however, for the community customizer group you do actually need approval to be able to download attachments from the mod development board but anyone should be able to see the Mod Development board, even guest, the only thing you can't do is download attachments.

Anyone should be able to see this:  How this works

Yes every one can see it. if you go here, http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?board=195.0 I can see the forum. I just can't post in this forum. and I should be able too.

Thas why you need to request membership for the community customizer group, go to your profile http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?action=profile;area=groupmembership and request membership on the community customizer group not the community support helper group. Those are different groups that serves different purposes.

Yes, the restriction was made to a void just anyone to be able to download mods or ask for support on that board as its mainly focused on WIPs and mods that needs refinements and might not be suitable for a production site. Most likely a place for mod authors rather than regular users although regular users can still reply to topics.

Trying not to sound dumb. Can you tell me what WIPs is. I heard of this term used before and never did under stand what this is for. Does this have some thing to do with making mods for SMF
SMF Forums http://www.df-barracks.com Where gamers go.

There's no such thing as a dumb question.

WIP stands for Work In Progress.

Mostly meaning its a mod that you are currently working on and want to share with other mod authors to either get feedback or opinions or advices, etc.

Ok, cool. One question. I uploaded a mod, My 1st mod. and it has been downloading 2 times last time I checked. It hasn't been approved yet, How ever I screwed up on the way the file was zip up. I have the mod zip up the way it should be. That way it will install right. Is there a way to edit the file I uploaded. They didn't make a support section for that mod I guess until it gets approved. Any ideas on this. I just wanted to get the newer file uploaded before they started playing with it just to find out some of it doesn't work.

Yes you can edit your mod and the details about it, just go to your mod page, on the header above the navigation sidebar you will see your mod's name along with an [Edit] link , this link is only visible to you and the customization team.  Click on it and you will be able to edit your mod data as well as removing the old zip file and upload a new one.

The topic on the modifications board is created only after the mod has been approved.
