Hey guys,

I was recently trying to make a intro page for my forum, and I read that you had to move your forum to a folder called forum. I did that, then I received an error from my host which redirects me to their homepage (000webhost) and now when I moved it all back to public_html, it says

"Connection Problems

Sorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later."

It's been like that for ages. I do not know what to do, maybe I messed up... could someone please help me?

My Website: www.afsclan.comoj.com

Also, now when I go to my forum page: www.afsclan.comoj.com/forum it redirects me to http://error404.000webhost.com/?

Please help me guys, I know I messed up bad.

Greetings,

Izzy

Hi Izzy, after moving your forum files, you always need to run repair_settings.php to fix the paths  ;)  http://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/Repair_settings.php

Thanks for your reply,

When I opened that up I recieved an error after saving all paths, below is the error I received.

Call to undefined function db_fatal_error() in /home/a4233385/public_html/Sources/Subs-Db-mysql.php on line 106

kat

Hmmm... That error is often caused by you using the wrong password, for the database.

Izzy007

Damn. I'm using the correct password, i'm logged into my database, logged into file manager, I don't know what's going on... I'm new to this kind of stuff, I have school tomorrow too.. I don't know what to do guys.

kat

The only thing I can suggest, now, is for you to PM me some FTP login details, if you have them.

Before you send me those, though, you'd best read this:

I would say you're missing some files in there...

BACKUP everything, delete all files except Settings.php and attachments/avatars folders and load a "large upgrade" package. Run repair_settings.

If it goes well, then you know and we can start searching for what's missing

Unless it's been fixed recently, the new and improved repair_settings.php cannot be used to fix database settings.  It tries to connect to the db and crashes if db settings are incorrect.

When in Emor, do as the Snamors.

It's looking like the password's wrong. :(

kat

It keeps giving me this:

QuoteSome settings are not being shown because the database connection information is incorrect.

I've checked the database name and the MySQL user name. It can only be the password, surely?

Izzy007

Not sure, I've used [email protected] to login to my host account (000webhost) ...  and I know my password's not wrong, i've used it many times. Also, I changed my password before I gave you the acc, but i'm not sure why it's the same. I'll PM you the password I changed to latest.

kat

Sorry. I edited my post, just as you replied.

I meant the password.

Everything else checks-out, although the forum URL was wrong, initially, cozz the "www." was missing.

kat

OK. The mystery deepens...

According to your File Manager, http://www.afsclan.comoj.com/agreement.txt exists.

But, try clicking on it...

Izzy007

Everything's there on my file manager, but can you login or not? I'm not sure what's wrong with my password then, let me try logging on. What can't you login to? I'll try logging in there.

kat

GOT IT!!!! :)

Your forum's working.

I'll PM you the problem.

Sure. Without giving things away, to any weirdos watching...

In the "Server" box, it didn't want the URL. It didn't want "localhost".

It wanted something weird that's totally 000webhost specific and a little... er... odd. ;)

margarett

Ahhhh yeah. Now that you mention it, I helped a guy a few days ago with that same need in the server box. It was godaddy, though...
Nicely done, chief! :P

It was a steep learning-curve. :)

By the way, Iz... Now that I can see the forum, I can see no SMF copyright.

Please, be aware that, in future, support may be refused, because of that. :(

margarett

I'm not sure that's intended... But it's obviously wrong.

I can only see the login page but all the text strings are missing, including the button...  So there's probably something missing there.
Heck, there is a SP copyright in there, so why not SMF's?
