I have one member that says the layout of the forum has changed, no other forum has done this just mine. He has cleared cache and deleted all the history and it still looks the same. he has tried Firefox and IE they both look the same.

He is the only person that gets this issue and i cant replicate it

Any idea how this could happen to only one person?

Can you provide a link to that page? The picture is too small for me to decipher the URL and it's hard to say what the problem is without being able to view it directly.

I just tried it on Chrome and Firefox and it looks fine to me. Does it happen only when he is logged in or as a guest as well?

OzzyMozzy

Yeah it looks fine to me and no one else has complained about it either.

Ill get him to log out and have a look and report back asap

OzzyMozzy

He logged out and it made no difference.

Run an antivirus didnt pick up anything
restarted the modem
cleared all temp internet files cookies cache history etc

Nothing helped

krittin98

is he facing the problem only on a single computer?
ask him to try and access the forum from a different computer
by the way, its quite odd that only a single user is facing a problem like that

Or, even, just a different browser on the same machine.

Seeing "cleared all temp internet files", I assume he's using the dreaded IE. Maybe he needs Compatibility mode?

Good point ill find out.

He has tried IE and Firefox so far both do the same.

I would believe that we're looking for a problem with his machine, rather than with your forum, then, Oz.

I just used Opera v12, Opera v17, Waterfox, IceDragon, Pale Moon, Firefox, IE 11x64, K-Meleon and Ghostzilla.

Your site looks A-OK, in all of those browsers. :)

OzzyMozzy

I thought it was as well but he says every other forum or web site is fine, it's only happening when he is on my forum

kat

I know you said that he's cleared-out stuff. But, what about his cookies? As he uses IE, I'd assume that he's not terribly "Savvy", as it were...

I wonder if renaming the cookie, in Admin>Server settings might sort this?

Is the layout weird, even if he switches to a different theme, such as the SMF default one (The highly originally named "Curve")?

He is off line at the moment, ill find out more tomorrow.

He did say he cleared all history and his cache but yes your right, he may not be "savvy" .......

How do you rename the cookie?

I only have one theme available to all uses

:)

When you do that, it's likely that your members will get logged-out and need to log back in.

OzzyMozzy

Ok he tried his iPhone and it was the same, he didnt know what Compatibility view was. I have shown him how to change that and im waiting to hear back from him

kat

The other thing that I mentioned was the theme thing. But, as you don't allow theme switching, we won't be able to find out.

As I said, though, your site looks perfectly OK, for me, whatever browser I use.

So, I can only think there's something weird going on with his... er... dare I say "Equipment"? ;)

OzzyMozzy

Just heard back from him, he tried the Compatibility View and it made no difference.

It's very strange, I can't see how only one member can have this issue and it only happens when viewing my forum. Because it's only him I would think it's his PC but it happens on any device, and it only happens with my forum......... Im stumped!!

kat

Well, it's him, I think. Not your site.

Something worth trying, perhaps?

If he won't mind letting you have his login details, what can you see, if you log into your forum, as him?

If everything looks kushti, it's definitely something weird about him. Or, rather, his setup. ;)

OzzyMozzy

Never thought of that, i'll give it a go and report back
