Is there a way to rig a SMF forum so that it would not require any e-mail accounts in registrations nor in any other function? I do understand many features would be unavailable and so on.

I understand why you would like something like this. These days there are many people who do not want to register with their email address, because they receive tens upon tens of emails per day, and it ends up clogging the email inbox. But I guess we can just disable all emails from sending, and that would solve the problem.

I suggest you do that, because registering without an email address (even if it were possible) would prove to wreak havoc on the forum. What if someone forgets their password?

I don't think their would be any alternative to fix this issue.

There is not, because smf allows the use of an email address as an alternative to username for login.

Also, every site in the world pretty much requires an email address to register....  Your users should be used to it and should not make any stink.
