That's what I was doing, but it says "find </td>", and there are literally hundreds of them in this file.

Damn.

Anyone want to code this for a fee? Contact me with what you'd charge. Or maybe just what you'd charge to convert my site to 2.0. Thanks.

Is it possible for me to add an image uploader?
I'm an experienced web dev but not good with SMF or the ad manager mod.
I can make a directory for ad images and upload to it - but the people I'm doing the forum for can't use FTP - too technical.

Or maybe there's a separate image upload mod for admins? (I can't find it if so)

vbgamer45

I do not have an image uploader in ad management mod but I do have it Ad Seller Pro i believe http://www.smfhacks.com/ad-seller-pro.php

Is it possible to show all ads one above the other when using option:
"Display ads on every page as a tower on the right sideright"  I  only get a single ad, which is picked at random

I can see where to remove the random selecter, but where should I amend the display function so I can make it do a "foreach" on the ads array?

Scareface

Which file do I have to edit to change the way the ads are displayed in between the posts ?

vbgamer45

It would be in your themes Display.template.php file

You would need to use the mods parser to manually edit the files which state Test Failed.

Okay.
How do i sue the parser--I know that there is a parser selection in the download, but I'm not sure what to do with it.
AND...what do I need to change/revise?

TheListener

Are you saying you have never had to manually edit a file before?

See the attachment? Look where the arrow points.

This is the parse button which you need to click.

Not seen it before? ALL mods have this feature.

The files which stated Test Failed are what you are looking for.

Use notepad## and make sure you backup first.

Kindred

Actually, fossil, it's even easier.
When you install the mod, there are little icons next to each failure that tells you specifically what edit and code failed.  There is even a wiki article on it... :p

How do i use the parser--I know that there is a parser selection in the download, but I'm not sure what to do with it.
I have manually edited files, but not with the parser and I have been told what in the files need changing--replace x with y.

I also know which files to change due to the test failed designation, but an image of the location of the parser tells me what I already knew.
I know there is a parser.
I know to edit the files that failed.
I do not know  how the parser functions. Clicking it just opens a long list of all the files and I can find the files to change--but then what...
The list that shows what files failed also gives me something to open that says find and lists code and then says add after and lists code--just like in the parser. Are the what to change instruction here the same as in the parser.
If so, what does the parser do? Does it simply tell a person what to change/add? I guess I don't understand it's purpose since my own system also did that.
So now I know what to change/add.
Are these something I should add by going to my cpanel and then finding the message.template.php file in my default themes folder and editing it there, or should I open it from the backup I made just before I tried to install the mod and then ftp it or upload it through cpanel?

PenelopeQ

Thanks, that was helpful.
I edited the file, but I got the same failures with those little icons telling me to change the same things. Maybe I didn't save it properly?
I just edited it in directly from my file manager in cpanel using the edit button.

Kindred

I don't think you fully read the wiki article.

You do the changes that need to be made...   and You do the installation, ignoring the failures.

doing the manual changes will NOT make the errors go away...   Something has already modified the code in those areas and the auto-installer will not be able to successfully apply the mod to those spots. That is why you MANUALLY changed the code. After you have made the manual changes, you IGNORE the failures, because you just did those changes anyway -- and you let the auto-installer do the rest of the updates for the mod.
