Ok, I tried putting up my ads, waiting over 48 hours with the Ad Management Mod, and they don't work at all.  They don't even show on the source code. I also tried doing it with TinyPortal but that didn't work either. Here is my site link:

Have you set permissions for everyone to see them?

Also, you are running a custom theme. You need to manually install the theme edits into your theme:

Bigguy, as you can see, I also love it. Unfortunately, the theme I'm using cannot be modded for it, so I'm stuck without it at this time. :(

However, I still plan on helping out here as much as I can. :)

Bigguy

Why can't it be modified.

#3325
Theme: Anecdota design by Crip

The areas where the codes fail are at:

index.template.php

Edit #2:
<div class="windowbg2 clearfix">';
Have no idea where that would be, as it is different. The theme's file does not even have windowbg2 in it anywhere....lol

Edit #4:
template_menu();
The menu here, is in a special div, due to the new style menu it is.

It says the welcome ads area would pass, but as to where it would actually show up, is something I'd love to know....LOL

(Have 2 more, just like it. :P )

You should be able to get most of the edits in. With this mod not all the edits have to be in for it to be used. It will not throw any errors doing it this way either. You just won't have all the spots to put ads thats all. I had to do that with a couple themes and let me tell ya I think I have edited almost every theme thats out there, lol....almost.

This mod looks great, just can't get it to install. I've downloaded the file then uploaded it through package manager no problems. When I click install mod I get this error message

The package you are trying to download or install is either corrupt or not compatible with this version of SMF.

Anyone know what I should do? I'm running the latest version of smf 1.1.7

Really appreciate any help I can get with this as it looks just like the feature I need for my forum

dcottuli

btw - the package that I'm installing is called ad_mod_v2-3-4_SMF_vbeta4.zip

That is the problem.

You are trying to install the SMF 2.0 Beta 4 version of the mod.

You need to install The SMF 1.1.x Version

dcottuli

Cool - did what you said and now I get this error :)

Session verification failed. Please try logging out and back in again, and then try again.

Have done so and still get error message???

dcottuli

Maybe I should manually change permissions as this is the screen that seems to be causing me the trouble? I now have the option to install the mod but then it asks for my login details to change permissions which I enter and then get the above error message.

Does anyone know which files I should change for the installation to go through?

hmmm . . . made the changes to the packages.php file and it went through but ended up at blank screen. Tried to reinstall but got this error message

You cannot download or install new packages because the Packages directory or one of the files in it are not writable!

All of the files are writeable and it still doesn't work???

dcottuli

This is starting to really annoy me :) I've checked and rechecked all my permissions and they are all writable and yet I still get the same error message. Now I can't install anything??

Anyone come across this before?

dcottuli

Figured it out - created a temp folder in the packages directory and set it to 777 and it worked perfectly.

dcottuli

I would like to put in my own adds but not sure how to do this. IE I have a banner from a company and I want to have it appear on my site with a link to their site. I tried putting in the html link to the banner and all i got was the text of the html link showing up. I used the [img] tag to see if that would work but got the text showing up again and no image. Is there a simple way around this?

Thanks!

It doesn't work on the SMF Default Theme either.
