Hi,

I have a problem with my ad mod not showing.

I recently installed forum version 1.1.7 but the database was older
so the themes and source files are 1.1.

I'm wondering if that is why it is not allowing me to add my ads or adsense?

In packages it is showing as "installed" but on the left in the administration
panel where it had been showing before the new install, to allow configuring of ads and to show the adsense... it is not showing.

How can I get the mod to show in admin  so that I can begin serving my
adsense ads again on all the pages?

Still need to know why my ads or ad mod is not showing on the forum?

Answers anyone at all?

Grateful for the help available here. Thanks.

Bigguy

@ Dougster: Make sure all you edits are done. Check index.php

Bigguy

@ glennk: No they are not going to be exactly the same. I suggest you download a program called "Winmerge" (Google it) and compare the default index.template.php file with the index.template.php file of the classic yabb theme to see where the edits are to go. Make sure the edits for the mod are already in the default index.template.php file and then compare the two.

Thanks Bigguy,  i appreciate your help

Thanks for the 'winmerge' suggestion.

Please help, I get this when trying to install

!!Error in Package Installation

At least one error was encountered during a test installation of this package. It is strongly recommended that you do not continue with installation unless you know what you are doing, and have made a backup very recently. This error may be caused by a conflict between the package you're trying to install and another package you have already installed, an error in the package, a package which requires another package that you don't have installed yet, or a package designed for another version of SMF.

Type Action Description
1. Execute Code install.php
2. Execute Modification ./index.php Test successful
3. Execute Modification ./Sources/Subs.php Test successful
4. Execute Modification ./Themes/default/index.template.php Test failed
5. Execute Modification ./Themes/default/BoardIndex.template.php Test successful
6. Execute Modification ./Themes/default/Display.template.php Test successful
7. Execute Modification ./Themes/default/MessageIndex.template.php Test successful
8. Execute Modification ./Sources/ManagePermissions.php Test successful
9. Extract File ./Sources/Ads.php
10. Extract File ./Sources/LoadAds.php
11. Extract File ./Themes/default/Ads.template.php
12. Extract File ./Themes/default/languages/Ads.english.php

The reason it's doing that is because I've installed a different template. But how do I fix it?
I'm using the default theme with a different index.template.php
So I've basically replaced all the files in here http://custom.simplemachines.org/themes/index.php?lemma=1248 with the ones in the default theme.

Please help and thank you. :)

Hello and thanks for the SMF software!

I'm in kind of the same situation as Dougster.
I have installed several MODS. All of them appear to be installed.
Some of them work (Remove SMF logo) but some of them don't.

Looking at the list of things as noted by others, here is my status (at hxxp:www.insidetracknews.com/forum/index.php [nonactive])

1. That does not look like the default theme.... Mine is set to: SMF Default Theme - Core

2. Is your language set to English or English-UTF8? I'm using ENGLISH

3. Have you made sure that in the permissions for all groups, it is set to enable ads? I assume this should appear under PERMISSIONS BY MEMBERGROUPS... I can see lots of options under the ADD PERMISSIONS menu, but none of them mention "ENABLE ADS".

4. Is the Hide ads for Admin checkmarked in the ads settings? I can't find this option, either.

Below is a list of what I've installed, with comments:

1. Ad Managment 2.3   UPDATED: Did all the manual edits... working now!
2. Are You Human? Anti-Bot Registration Check 1.3... ALSO working now
3. BK-SMF StatCounter 1.0... ALSO working now
4. Remove SMF Logo 1.2... This one seemed to work.
5. Picasa Gallery Browser 0.4 ... UPDATE: This one is now working after I went through the manual installation directions.

Anyway, thanks again for the SMF software. I can't believe the traffic.
:)

Hi Bigguy,

Thanks for your reply, I really appreciate it. I'm kind of lost as to what edits I need to be checking?

So, I need to edit my index.php file for the ad mod to work?

Grateful for the help available here. Thanks.

Bigguy

Run the ad mod through the parser and then compare those edits with the ones in your files. I think it would be the index.php that is giving the problem but my memory might be wrong.

Bigguy

@ slnurajar: Check the Packages folder and put a temp directory in it if there is not one. Then chmod it to 777 or 755 depending on your host. Then try to re-install it.

Hey Guys,

I recently installed a new forum using the DS Natural theme.

My site is here: hxxp:www.signamigo.com/forum [nonactive]

I am using SMF 1.1.7

Now, I don't know much about web coding, in fact, really nothing at all. So please bear with me.

I installed the Ad Management package and can't seem to get my ads to display. I did do a search for this topic but I'm still confused. Do I need to alter the code in the index.template.php file in order for this mod to work correctly? I saw a post on another site that offered some text to add, but when I tried it, I just got an error when I went to the forum home page. I wasn't 100% certain that it was my fix anyway.

Thanks!

If you're using a custom theme you will need to change it yourself, go to:
http://mods.simplemachines.org/index.php?mod=255

Select ad_mod_1-1-x_v2-3.zip, then Manual Install Instructions for SMF for 1.1.7. You'll need to redo anything related to ./Themes/Default, but on DS Natural theme instead. Backup your files first.

I've upgraded recently to 1.1.7 and had to fix most of the mods, I'm just getting this error with the ADS:

Quote
         Issue with the Ad Mod
LoadAds.php is missing/corrupt from your sources directory. Please make sure that it uploaded properly. The Ad mod won't be able to function properly.

the file is there and I tried uploading a new and older version. Any ideas how to fix it?

Thanks![/hr]
