I have two custom themes installed, silentwave and extreme. My SMF version is 2.0 RC1.
The Ads show up nicely in the default theme. They only show up one time in the custom themes. They do not rotate appearances either. Is there some type of edit instructions for 2.0RC1 custom themes?

Thank you,
Prime

Bigguy

Use the package parser to see what code goes in the template files of your themes you want to use.

I wish it were that easy.. some of the code that the parser tells me to find does not exist on the templates.

Bigguy

Ok all the spots the parser tells you to find are in the default templates. So you will have to find those spots in the default templates and then look at the code around those spots, now go back to your custom theme and look for the that. Place the ad mod code somewhere around there and experiment. For this though you need a good editor and some patience.

can someone help me in steps by step how i can use this version on mode  (ad_mod_1-1-x_v2-3) with smf 1.1.8. I need to add google adsense to my forum.

Bigguy

I will check it more slowly. I use Rapid PHP to edit so I think that should be suffice. Updates to follow. :)

I have the admod installed but have no ads showing on my custom theme. I know I need to to a manual add for some of the code, but do I need to make ALL the manual changes listed in the parse since the mod is installed already?

I am using 1.1.8 and a CLassic Yabb theme

Bigguy

No, if the mod is installed only do manual edits to the template files that you find in your custom theme folder.

Thanks for the good jobs you've been doing. Now i have few questions about this mode.
First, i learn t that this ad mode can only work with Default Theme - Core but i i'm using Classic YaBB SE theme. My forum version is 1.1.8.
Pls is there any ad mode that works perfectly with this theme and smf version?
Thanks again

Bigguy

This mod CAN work with any theme. All it takes is a bit of manual edits. Install the mod on the default theme, then go to your YaBB SE theme folder and edit the files:

index.template.php
messageindex.template.php
boardindex.template.php
display.template.php

Use the package parser from the download page to find the edits for the mod.

If that theme does not have all of those files then only edit the ones that are there. The others would have been modified during install and do not need to be edited. Yes, they will still work on your theme because whatever template files are not in the custom theme folder SMF reads from the default theme folder for them.

If you can not find some of the code that you need to edit in those files. You will have to compare the default template file against the custom template file and experiment on where to put the code. (I hope that all made sense.)

REMEMBER to BACKUP your database BEFORE installing ANY mod.

Well seems like I had the same problem Jason had in regards to my ad Management not appearing in admin. So that it fixed.  :)

Now I managed to get ads appear in some spots, but not others.

The between posts works as well as at the top of posts, but ads DO NOT appear on index page when I select any that are supposed to??????

Also 2 more questions.

1. If I ad 2 ads and select the same option ie. after 1ST post, will it rotate them, or will it ad 2 banners?

2. How do you center the banners. Right now they are flush right and it makes the forum look a little off????

Thanks again

Jon

Bigguy

1.) yes it will rotate on page refresh

2.) That has been discussed alot, search this thread

I just wanted to know, does this mod work for "Google Adsense for Search" and display the search results on the forum too?

Thanks,

But what about the ads not appearing with certain selections?

It does show in between posts, and at top of posts, but no on the index when you select that one???????

Bigguy

If you are using a custom theme refer to this post

jonnyfishboy

I did that,

But ads still does not show on main index page.

I did fix the messageindex page. But can not figure out the index page problem.

Almost there.

jonnyfishboy

ok,

I got the index page figured out.

I needed to check 2 catagories for the index page to appear??

1. Display ads on every page right below the menu
2. Display ads on board index

Thank You
