I have installed the new version of the Ad Management mod on my site with SMF 2.0 RC2. No problems in installation, and runs smoothly.

However, there seems to be nothing in the Member Permissions settings that I can find to enable viewing ads for each membergroup. There is a Permission for Enabling Ads (under Admin permissions), but not for simply viewing ads.

Am I missing something?

Enable ads will make them show up. You must enable ads for each membergroup you want to see the ads.

Its a bit misleading. The "Enable Ads" option is under the "Administrative Duties" section in the permissions, which implies that if ticked, that member can choose to make ads active or not for the forum.

I suggest it should be better called "View Ads" and be under "View Additional Board Content" section of member permissions.

just installed this on 1.1.11.   seemed to install fine, ad management is listed under admin tools.
I use the outline theme
I created a test ad and when  i saved it it now show TWO identical ads listed.
The ad doesn't show up anywhere on the outline theme, but when i switch to the default theme it appears, TWICE.
Thoughts on how to resolve this?

It installed the mod twice use the parser on the mod page to see the code this mod adds on and to what files and get rid of the duplicate code. And to get it to work on a custom theme you will have to add the code yourself use the parser for this as well.

Not sure what you mean here... where is the parser?
i opened the package manager an see a list of files installed, no duplicates.

How did the double install happen?
Should i just upload a backup of the home directory and start again? easier?

Ok ill do that later after i fix the first problem.

The parser is on the page you downloaded the mod from just pick the version of smf, and ad management your using and click parse and it will show everything the mod adds or changes.

ok, found it, i think i will try uploading a fresh backup i did just prior to the mod,  is there any reason it installed the mod twice?
EDIT, backup restored,
if i try this install will it double install again?

smp420

It shouldn't install twice but it happens sometimes.

Has anyone installed this on the default theme without any issues but yet no Ads are displaying? If so and you have "fixed" the issue please post what you have done to correct it. Thanks in advance.

musicman80h8: Please state what version of SMF you're using, might help someone to help you unravel it.

have you switched the ads on?  Can you see them as admin?  have you set permissions?

I have been using this on 1.1.10 for a while, but when I upgraded to 1.1.11, no Ads appeared, and the advert option in Admin vanished, although it still showed up in the mod packages installed, as being active.

I reverted back to 1.1.10 and things returned to normal.

Should I delete the ad mod, then do a full re-install after upgrading to 1.1.11?

shumilica

Yes. Uninstall the mod, upgrade your smf, then reinstall the mod. No ads will be lost!
