Like I said before the files/directories in the custom theme folder do not match the ones specified in manual installation instructions. Is there any way to find out how to adapt these instructions to the mysticjade theme by DzinerStudio which I am using? Or has anyone attempted to install this mod on this theme and can share some knowledge?

vbgamer45

You only need to modify the files that exist in the themes folder for the custom theme that we are installing on the default theme.

vbgamer, I really appreciate your input.
Just to make sure I understand everything correctly here is exactly what I see in the www.mysite.com/Themes/mysticjade_20a: [nofollow]
css (folder)
images (folders)
languages (folder)
scripts (folder)
index.php
index.template.php
license.txt
Settings.template.php
theme_info.xml

The way I understand last post, since there are no 'Sources' or 'Themes/Default' directory the changes would have to be done in index.php file only?

Just want to get it right and thanks again for your support.

vbgamer45

Only change the index.template.php and make the edits to that file.

Ummm... Python, the sources directory is under the forum root. That directory is not a theme directory. Also, the index file to be edited will always be the file in the forum root, thhe other index files in other directories are just there to force a redirect in case someone tries to access a directory directly...

The template files which are edited under the default themes directory will also have to be edited in any and all custom themes...  If the template files exist in your theme. If they don't, then the theme uses the default templates.

I backed out all my mods, even went as far as getting a fresh copy of the custom theme but I keep ending up with the same errors when trying to install this mod. Funny thing is, I'm getting the same displayed errors/failed tests for the core theme. Any thoughts, really would love to use this mod... use to back in the days of 1.1 without error.

That is because the black rain theme is horrendously coded....    almost NO mods which need to make template edits will succeed with black rain.
(in other words, it's a problem with the theme, not the mod)

Well, it's one of crips and I've always had good luck with it since this is the first mod I have ever ran in to issues with, That said, I also said I get the same errors on the ame files with the core theme so would that be horrendously coded as well ?

In terms of modern coding practices.. yup.

Core dates back to 1.1.x and is coded with tables instead of divs, so most of the core won't match up to the default/curve - wich (just like black rain) will require manual edits

Well, guess that's what I'm gonna have to try then lol

Maybe I'll take a stab at editing the install files first though so I can install / remove it via he package manager if I need to back it out for other mods or somethin.

Issue though will be finding the appropriate lines since that's the current issue lol

Thx.

Yeah, I had a problem with the ads not showing. When I tried to uninstall, I've got two errors and when I try to uninstall them manually, the codes required to delete were mixed up during the installation. Although, the installation didn't show any errors. The error codes that are supposed to be in themes/default/Display.template.php were inside the themes/default/MessageIndex.template.php

Dunno if it's just the installation process or something else on the mod or my custom theme.

More than likely no since there is already a placement near by.

But you can easily move it yourself in the index.template.php file

Can someone tell me where is (which file) the code for the following options:

Display ads on every page right below the menu

Display ads on the bottom of the page

I could not find it in either BoardIndex.template.php or index.template.php.

vbgamer45

Forgot it is a little harder now to due that since we use layers which calls the template functions and those functions can only display at certain places such as before or after the template_above and template_below functions
