Have it so the album's creation date is based on when the first picture was uploaded to it... I really think it's an essential feature to allow for the admin to list the latest albums in the gallery index. You can have it as another option along side latest pictures and comments.

Is your link obviously clickable? (i.e. underlined)

It is, and I'm running the default theme. So everything looks standard. The other day I told my bro to view some images from Legoland when he had the time. Next time I talked to him, he said there were only 5 images and none from Legoland. So I assume he just saw the 5 recent images on the main gallery page, and nothing more.

QuoteSo my point is that I think people are missing the point with the "User albums" and they may think it's only some kind of headline and not a link to click.

I think this exactly. Everyone is seeing the general albums, but only a small fraction even know they can have their own. There really needs to be better distinction.

Also, any help with my problem on the prev page is much appreciated  8)

I see that you are ambitious with more changes coming...I like your site...
BTW, those photos of the construction...adding tiling to floors etc in one of your galleries...is that your place...sure looks nice!

Uh... Are you talking to me?
If yes -- nope, that's from a friend's in Brittany. I'll be going there soon, so I can check on whether the "housework" is finished, eheh.

Ok, so I created a new album on my test board and it works fine now. However, I'm unable to delete the other album that was having the problem. I made sure the folder permissions were 777 and it won't delete no matter what? Any ideas?

Nao 尚

Sorry, no idea...

@everyone> could someone make a bug report to the SMG bug tracker, and sum up the complete list of suggestions made for the homepage? That would be nice... Otherwise I'll get lost easily. Thanks. (Or at least, post it here in a single post.)

suggestions made for the homepage? Frontpage of SMG in ones forum? Or in general of the SMG mod?

Nao 尚

The frontpage stuff, yeah... Needs to be put all in one place.

We are still having some major problems after months with the gallery working correctly. First Admins had no control over albums unless they where the ones who made them. Unable to move any photos from one album to another and now everything has just started to disappear leaving dead links. Please any suggestions? I have spent countless hours uploading photos now for them to disappear for no seen reason.

weightman

Nao, I agree about the user albums. They are kind of buried. Personally, I would like to move them to the general albums but you can't seem to do it. When I click "move" in the user album, it just refreshes the page. Also, is there any possibility of using ssi to show a random shot from the gallery on our home page or the latest shot?

Thanks. Another great mod.

Akyhne

Weightman: There's no idea in moving the user albums as they would then just be general albums and not user albums. About the not working "move" function, it is my understanding that this is solved and will be part of the next release.

What he's getting at is that barely anyone noticed the capability of making one's own user album due to the link being camouflages and almost looking like a title. I think it would be better if general and user album links were more in your face noticeable so the majority of users would actually notice and use them.

To be honest, the only reason I noticed the link is because I installed the mod and had to figure out how to use it.

@nao: how can i manually delete an album?

I'll get things started, can people add to the list so it grows until everything is on there. (Nao, apologies in advance, I know you'll hate me for all the other stuff I added)

Gallery Index Requests

1. Link to 'User Albums' on the home page needs to look more like a link, currently first impressions suggest it is the title of the gallery index.

2. Just like 'Recent pictures', there should be 'Recent albums' to show the last X number of albums created. As there is no creation date for albums, you should use the date of the first picture uploaded to the album.

3. Have it so we can show the top rated images and most viewed images in the gallery index.

4. Option to show 'User albums' on the gallery index instead of 'General Albums'.

Other Requests

1. Correct the link tree so that it includes the user album of the picture you are viewing.

2. Allow User Albums to be moved into General Albums. That way you can better organise everything, like have each general album represent a year, and inside you have all the user albums that are relevant to that year. (Big ask, might as well mention though)

3. Fix issue with .zip files not unloading pictures into the gallery (been reported by lots of people now, including myself).

4. When an unapproved album is submitted or an image/comment is reported, have it send out a notification to the moderators in the same way the SMF "Report to moderator" feature does currently.

5. Don't show 'Mass Upload' button to the admin when he is unable to use it on User Albums he does not own.

I think this is necessary only..

I have a small suggestion. Album index and item page meta description (<meta desc=>) should be album description and item description.

And I like media.noisen.com new style. Its very nice look in ie6-7/ff/opera/chrm..
Small question. media.noisen.com mp3player  gonna be in the new version? Or
Is it just there will be special.

Yeah but I still haven't figured out a few things...
- Do I show everything in one "block", as in SMF Gallery, i.e. no border around thumbnail boxes, they're all together with one single-color background?
- Do I use one table per thumbnail box, or one table for all thumbnail boxes in a block? (The current SMG uses one div per thumbnail box, the current Noisen uses one table for all boxes) --> All in all, using one table per box will make the boxes behave like in SMG 1.5, with its pros and cons. Using one table for all is better overall, but you need to specify how many items you want per line, which might break your layout if you take something too large.
Etc...

QuoteSmall question. media.noisen.com mp3player  gonna be in the new version? Or Is it just there will be special.
No, it'll be in the next version. It's actually a customized JW Player. I decided to use it for two reasons: (1) the release of Flash 10 fixed all issues that JW Player had when playing mp3 files with weird encoding/bitrates/frequency, (2) version 4.3 (released after SMG 1.5 was developed) reintroduces a feature that was only in early JW Player versions: saving the current volume in a cookie. Which is definitely *great* when you browse through many sound files and you want them all to be at minimum or maximum volume.

Actually I think that this is not very important.
Because we'll be able to remove css with background and border. No significant differences between the two I think. So I have no idea about it.

I think that would be better is in the form of tables.
- these problems do not look different browsers. (I hate ie(especially 6) but many users used this..)
- choose how many items in each line can be very good.
- And i don't like semantic codes.. =)

How can I delete an album server side (as in not via the forum) ?

Harvester

#2678
I have a member who sees the gallery perfectly but when they go to upload they use the mass upload, select the files and then once they click "upload" nothing happens. It just sits there.

Please help me.

I actually have a couple who have the same problem. They can select the files to mass upload but when they hit upload nothing happens.

Open up a note pad. Place the following code in it:
SecFilterEngine Off
SecFilterScanPOST Off

save the file as ".htaccess"

Upload it to your forum root.
