When I try to convert my phpBB forum to this next version of Simple Machines (Congratulations for the next version), I have a problem in the messages conversion:
Quote(this may take some time)
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 4194304 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 2918 bytes) in /home/webcindario/ptoinformativo/********/phpbb2_to_smf.php on line 697
What's the problem? When I tried to convert my phpbb to SMFb5 (the last public version) all work good, but the
something
don't work and my phpbb forum have a lot of quotes...
Please, help me.

Try upgrading to RC1 from Beta 5 and see if that solves the problem.

Floyds

upgraded it from beta 5 and all works 100% no problems at all... ;D

Mysterio

I have a question.

I installed Beta 5(Just testing something) in another directory on my webserver, then did everything to make it work.

What's weird is, is that when I log on to my test forum, then on my other perm. forum, my username gets logged out for some reason, and vice versa.

Why is it doing that?

It is because I'm using the same MYSQL db information as the other forum?

That's the only thing that's happening, nothing else is changed on either of the two forums.

Thanks.

Okay, you're the second person to say that.  Can you paste an exact example of a phpBB quote?  I was under the impression it looked like this:
words
Or:
Quote from: authorwords

Which parses fine.

As to the messages conversion issue, your server is limiting the amount of memory PHP can use... please try asking your host to temporarily increase this.

Both installs are using the same cookie name.  This is in server settings, I think... you should make them different.

Excellent! It worked!

Thanks a lot, [Unknown]!

Do NOT use Smart Ftp. It misses ALOT of files, inorder for the upgrader to work you will need to reupload 5 times for it to fully upload all the files.

That's funny... SmartFTP uploaded all files for me in first attempt. It has never missed a single file.

For me and other people I know, it almost always misses files.

What does it mean for the software to be named a release candiate? Does it mean that the feature set is complete, and all need to be done is to fix most (if not all  :D)the bugs?
Also, I would like to use a fast and simple forum software. Am I looking at the right place?  :P.
Sorry If my questions aren't appropriate in this thread.  8)

One of those weird things, I use it all the time and have done loads of upgrades (charter member boards, not all of them small ;)) without problems

Yes on both counts.

I find the SMARTFTP is actually "Dumb" FTP... I stopped using it and went to WSFTP for windows or just used Linux to FTP my stuff.

I will be looking forward to getting this version running on my test setup tonight and this weekend upgrading the rest.

Thanks for all the hard work.....

A Release Canidate is basically the features for the final release, although they continue to fix bugs.  We are still however adding features, although it is no longer the main focus.
This space for rent.

Ben_S

And (to my understanding) new features are for 1.1, not 1.0 which will only see big fixes.

Feel free to smack me if I'm wrong.
