Are you certain it's using the latest RC2 files?

Owdy

I am getting a lot of "safe mode restrictions in effect" errors

My host does have php enabled with safe mode, is this a problem?

If your host has PHP installed with safe mode on, they should at least run it with PHP suExec.

Running safe mode under nobody is for loser hosts :P.  I'm sorry.  If they don't know what they're doing, they shouldn't be asking for your money.

Found a strange thing. One of the 'Dutch' buttons is corrupt:

The last button 'verwijder selectie' (transl: Delete selection) has way to much blue on top of it....

madfiddler

mine is too, in English, using the classic theme.

andrea

These buttons are not corrupt, this is to be corrected in the template file, set the backgrund attribute to transparent or to the right color code. If you have more questions on this then please use the support forums.

Click the "small patch available (click to install.)" link...

-[Unknown]
I have done that several times. Every time it says 'There are no installation or uninstallation actions defined!'' and that list gets longer...

I have got the same problem.

Looking at the file smf_1-0-rc2_fixes.mod I think there is a bug.

The end of the file says:
<replace>
   // Administrator?  We'll need to fetch the default theme options for the guest, then.
   if ($user_info['is_admin'])
   {
      $result = db_query("
</replac

I think that the last lin must be
</replace>

Sounds like you didn't download the entire package.

-[Unknown]

Owdy

I did manually download that package, but it wont install it...
That same package worked in my own forum.

I cant really see the point in ssafe mode, all it does is hamper things, sure it may be a *LITTLE* safer but im sure nothing drastic will go wrong.

Metho

Heh, safe mode is WONDERFUL for hosts who don't know what they're doing. :P

There are a lot of hosts in the world that the users know more than the admins.

ok on a package install, how do I know it worked?  I have tried the RC2 Fix Package, and all steps show success, but when I hit proceed it just refreshes the page.  Then on the package list, [apply mod] is still an option.  I'm assuming therefore it didn't install ... what am I doing wrong?

Does it prompt you for an FTP password, or anything?  If it won't let you proceed, something's holding it back.

Yeah I have tried putting in several different combos of ftp server, filepaths, etc.  I have tested them using my FTP program, so I know the username and password are correct, but just for kicks I tried putting in the database password.  All with the same result ... it just refreshes the page.

Most of the time, the path is the one people get wrong.  It's actually hard to explain, because it seems logical that it would be the file path - it's not.

Examples are best.  Here, the path to the forum is /home/simple/public_html/community.  This is the "path".  You of course all know the URL.

The path, for FTP, is different.  It is /public_html/communty.  Why?  Because when you log into FTP, you can't go to /home - there is no /home!  You're already inside /home/username, and you can't get out of it.  Because of this, you need to type the path you see when you log in with an FTP client.

I'll probably end up finding out it does this already... but what about if someone enters the full path, SMF could check if they have something before public_html, and if the connect fails try again but removing all the bits the user entered before public_html, or otherwise telling the user to try the suggested path (The one they entered bar all stuff before public_html)
I'm only a half geek really...

It gave me a "Failure" for Sources/Subs.php, but I went ahead and installed it anyway... :)
