Bottom line, if some idiot is determined to show off his IQ and post porn on my family friendly forum, I prefer it only show a link and not a clickable video with perhaps a inappropriate image for kids thumbnail. My objection isn't based on a problem with porn, which I personally enjoy generally. The mod would be potentially inappropriate for my target audience with porn support. If all that those who want those sites supported have to do is uncomment a few lines of code and/or jump through a couple easy hoops, then it seems best for everyone to go that way to me.

By the way, i got one other question.... if a forum is the soul responsability of its owner, why are there so many people trying to make decisions for them...

I mean, when some of you guys say that porn shouldn't be allowed on forums, are you just thinking of imposing your will on others?

Think of it this way, if i run a forum, it's my choice to make it about what ever i want. It's not your place for forbid me or anyone else.

If on the other hand, some guy posts something that shouldn't be there, it's my place to delete it, since he broke the rules of my forum. That simple!!!!

In conclusion, think free, live free, and let others choose their kind of freedom.

But think a little harder (Dont take it as an offese), if your mother wanted to commit suicide (Wether or not you have a mothet, again not an insult some people are orphans and i dont want to really remind them about the obvious) would you not try to stop her or would you let her go because thats what she wants?

After reading that (If youre reasonable) You would realize that people make their own definitions of freedom, and usually they are very stupid (No offesnse again) Please be careful before you actually believe something, dont just say something, claim you believe it and then realize its stupid and jump to something else. IMO If people want porn videos on their own forum, then thats upto them (providing that its in line with relevant laws)

Even if you don't like it.  We shouldn't be forcing those standards on everyone else. ala the muppets atParents Television Council.

This shouldn't be about the use of it on any forum.
Generally those who us it, will use it on a restricted forum.

But
a) someone needs to write a definition of it (if Nao is unwilling).
b) if Nao is willing to add it to the mod it can be disabled (by default)
(If its disabled by default, those who don't want to use it, don't need to activate it.)

If hes not willing then it can be shared as add-on mod, hack, attachment.

Hey, I think I've found the way. How about just adding an option in the admin area, that says something along the lines of,

|_| Allow for adult websites/content to be embedded.

Then, if the user checks the box (which would be disabled by default), a new section would appear (Adult), just like Popular/Audio/Video/Various. That way, it would be easier to deal with these. After all, Google Images offers to disable the "adult filter" as well, and I don't remember anyone saying they'll boycott Google (the search engine) because they somehow allow you to enable adult content...

That adult section would be integrated into a file that will only be downloadable on my website, for a standard fee of $500. (We're talking adult sites here... Big money )

I'm sure everything will agree.

Anyway, Merry Christmas to all, obviously in the next couple of days I won't be much online (if any).

I'm not judging what  you should do or not mr. ice, but even kids use SMF as forum for games etc.. I think it's in the wrong place to add porn sites to one of the most popular mods for SMF - one that is probably one of the most obvious t0 add for young people.

I really don't give a damn what you use your forum for. But because you want porn sites added, it shouldn't be the case. What if someone wants the nazi sites put in, or some anti-muzlim site, or whatever. What if NAO didn't care what should be added or not. Where's the limit?

Ok, I did some more playing around with the internal linking.

On one of my sites it seems to work fine except .mov (quicktime) movies fail to play. Just get a big ? in the video window.

On another site, I have almost the exact same set up, yet the internal linking would not work at all, couldn't figure out why.

Perhaps add in the admin the allowed domain or just add an option to select a domain to embed from? So we could just select the video dump we have for users.

I've been working non-stop (okay, maybe not non-stop but...) on rewriting the admin area's internals. I made some of it less complicated (e.g. I removed an entire function), and some of it a bit more complicated, for good measure.
Overall, my goal was to make it easy to enable/disable adult content but I'm still having a few issues with that (also due to some of my rewriting). I'm hoping to commit my changes later today, and hopefully a few courageous users (and/or users who'd like to test the adult section stuff) will install it and give some feedback.

I do not think boycott may be the answer, if i could talk to the owner of google they way I can to you now I would. No question about it, if he registered on these forums and I happened to come across him I would ask talk to him about it, Cross my heart... (I dont break promises). But you are here, you are doing something similar, and I thats why I am asking you to stop. (Politely may i remind you )

Dont get me wrong I love your MOD its just that by allowing, in fact leaving others with the ability to do such a thing is as bad as actually encouraging it. So please, for one last time I will ask... Please don't allow such a feature...
