More develpments:

My host says:

Hello,

We can not disable it (mod_security2), but if mod_security will cause any problems for you, you will get "406 error". I don't see this error on your site, what means it's not related to this module

Should you need additional assistance, have further questions, comments or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

I dont know what else to do HELP! >:(

This is my error msg:
Method Not Implemented  :-[
GET to /index.php not supported.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Dragooon

It is definitely a mod_security error. Ask your host to disable it for you.

kevjkel

Ok i got it sorted.
So my host refused to disable my mod_security2. This http://www.smfhacks.com/index.php?topic=3389.msg16119#msg1 worked PERFECT for me when using SMF MEDIA GALLERY.

Thankyou for all your help as it was a mod_security2 issue!

I have just installed SMG on my site running SMF 2.0 RC1 with TinyPortal 2.2

The problems I have experienced are as follows.
The installation worked fine, no problems.
Then I tried to create an album and got an error message.
It turned out that the installation had not created the album folder in the mgal_data folder.

I created the folder but still problems.

I could now created an album but not upload any pictures.
I got an white screen with a file error message.

Then I started to read this thread and found that it might me a problem with to many sub folders.
I then tried to move the mgal_data folder and reconfigure the settings - data directory path.

Now it got even worse.

I then decided to uninstall and reinstall the package.

Even this is now impossible since it complains that "You cannot download or install new packages because the Packages directory or one of the files in it are not writable! "
And that is not true since all files are set to 777.

What do I do?
I want this to work since it would have been a great feature for my users.

Dragooon

First of all remove all the albums, delete mgal_data and then upload a new one from the gallery's package and chmod all the files/folders to 777. Then make sure Packages directory is chmodded to 777.

Told ya ;)

So, ";id" would be the cause for these crashes...? How weird! What's wrong with this?
That's a lot of changes you would have to make. Hopefully you use a file-wide search & replace ;)

Dragooon, should we change these? I'm thinking no...
I have no idea why SMF itself is working for you, though. Would it be due to something in the headers or the $_GET or $_POST variables?

I am afraid I have no clue about that solution..

Could you please enlighten me?

Nao 尚

...the solution that is written down in bold right after you finish installing SMG..................... <ahah>

..........................do people read warnings we show on screen? because if they don't, I'll have to remember not to write them...

Well. I have checked and the mod_security is not enabled on my server.
Do I still need to do this?

I can not un-install the module either and start from the beginning...

quiz_modder

Any way to handle these errors better when a member is removed - I assume that is why the error is occurring. Perhaps have a maintenance task that cleans up or have I missed one that does this?

Thanks

Just to summarize the problem I have.

I can not create any "general album" since i then get the error "This album's directory couldn't be properly created, please make sure mgal_data and mgal_data/albums is chmodded to 777 "

This is NOT a valid error since my mgal_data folder and sub folders IS set to 777.
I HAVE tried to delete the mgal_data folder and upload a new from the installation pack. Same problem.

There is NOT any mod_security enabled on my server.
The server is NOT in php safe mode.

As it looks everything is as it should. But I can not get it to work.
I have read the whole thread and it seems some people have had the same issue but there is no telling how they got it to work.

Can ANYONE help me out?

Dragooon

Is mgal_data/albums also 777?

Yes.
All files in the mgl_data folder is set to 777

if it helps I could give you rights to have a look.

Yes..

Do it have such an impact that it wont work??

I HAVE tried to unistall the mod.
Then change to the "core" theme, then install the package again.
Same thing... NOT WORKING..
