SMF Media Gallery (SMG) - 2.0.5 is out! (December 2)

Actually it wasn't that at all it was the chmod. It was set at 666 and and not 755 which it should be. Get that with every install I noticed. Everything I install gets chmod 666 or 777.
So far since i did that the error hasn't shown in the logs...lets hope it stays that way...

So that's a server configuration issue... I do have this on my own server when I upload files by FTP (according to their extension, they get chmodded to different values... Which also change over time, lol). chmod can be affected by the file owner (see chown). That's what MGallerySafeMode.php is for, too -- change the file owner by forcing an FTP upload of the file, rather than a PHP upload.

I can give you admin access later if your around. As its a home server somethings don't work like ftp.

@gbso> What is your target folder for gallery data? You probably entered a dummy folder that won't work, so basically SMG is uploading to nothingness... Also, regarding your chmod problem, you probably are using safe mode -- make sure you're using SMG2 and use the MGallerySafeMode.php workaround.

My "target folder", Nao 尚?  I didn't intentionally create a dummy folder, but I suppose one may have been created, anyway.  Would this have happened during installation, or would this have been when I tried to create an album?  (I never got that far, though.) 

Can you explain to a novice what you mean by "safe mode"?  I didn't use SMG 2.0 because of the bug warning on the download page and didn't feel competent, so I downloaded 1.5.6.  Should have I have gone with 2?

If you don't remember changing a folder, look at smg's admin area if you can find an "mgaldata" entry in it. If yes, make sure this folder does exist (by ftp) and make sure it's in the correct location.

Does normal upload work with the same file? Do you have mod_security enabled? Have you tried implementing crossdomain.xml?

You can't. This is some basic ergonomy stuff. As people get to know SMG across different websites, they come to expect basic functionality to be there everywhere. Don't deprive them from that. All you can hide is in the SMG2 > admin > settings > layout area.

Has anyone updated a large gallery to 2.0 B1 yet?  Just wondering.  It's awfully tempting, but for now I'm using a test install.

What kind of lists can you put video's and clips from,does it have the same list as Aeva or is it unlimited ?

Just installed this on a new host with ffmpeg support and tried to upload a video and recieved this error:

OK, I'll start running the big backup and maybe update later today/tonight.  I haven't seen any update instructions.  I'm guessing it's a uninstall/reinstall rather than install over 1.5.6?

hi all,

great mod, but on both versions (156 & 2b1) i get a white screen when i try adding an item with a youtube video url. adding an item with a file from my computer works great.

i tried doing it with a fresh installation of smf, and everything works great. so it's probably a wrong setting issue or a conflict in my normal installation. yet - i couldn't find anything so i come to you.

any ideas?
