I think you need to set permissions in Admin > Permissions for users (and guests) to be able to see the gallery.

Yes, permissions.

Should I change Aeva Media so that it will set permissions to 'yes' by default, rather than 'no'...?
I'd rather not, but if it could save me the many requests I have about this...

I also have plans to rework SMG/AM's permission area to have everything into one page. Including general permissions.
I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered.

Nao: I don't actually think that's unrealistic to do, to be honest.

Thank you very much, setting the permissions solved everything.

Kindred

eek... no, do not set permissions to "on"!

1- that would be the opposite of every other mod
2- then you will get complaints from users who can't figure out why some membergroups have permissions that the admin doesn't want them to have...

Please do not PM, IM or Email me with support questions.  You will get better and faster responses in the support boards.  Thank you.

I was rather thinking about having a message saying somewhere 'click here to enable all permissions for all primary groups' or something...?

I'm trying to remove the numbers from the gallery button, I can't quite find what makes the numbers shown below display on the button and truthfully can't really figure out exactly what they represent.

SMF 2.0 RC2
Gallery Ver. 2.0.3

Here's a screen shot of exactly what I'm trying to remove from the menu button.

Any help with this would be appreciated. If any know what the heck that number represents I would really like to know doesn't really match up with # of entries or # of files.

MATTEK

Issue with the Gallery. Pictures hang off of the edge of the layout. Look at far right picture. Issue occurs on ALL browsers. Anyone know how to fix?

That would be cool if it was something along  the lines of all except moderation permissions for everybody except guests or something like that

Maybe a quick easy solution is a permissions Tutorial/FAQ as a sticky at the start of the thread. New users setting the permissions themselves may reduce the amount of questions later. If everything is set yes you may still end up with an equal amount of inverse questions. IE "How do I make this stop?" instead of "start".

I am writing a Aeva FAQ geared toward posters in my forum if you would like me to I would be glad to send you a copy for use wherever you like if it would in some way help.

The mods are great thanks for the good stuff :)

Taking a wild guess from observation.....

It appears to be the number of gallery pics you haven't browsed yet.  Of course if no information is on the page which obviously explains that, my guess is only as good as the next guy's.

I'm by no means any sort of expert but have you tried going to Admin>Gallery>Settings>Preview Size Settings and reducing the size of the of the thumbnail or preview width?

This warning is displayed on the preview width setting:
Warning: if disabled, large pictures might break your template layout.

This looks like it may describe what's happening.

Settings for reducing the thumbnail size are also there.

@aard> You'll have to edit your files so that it removes that data. It's useful though, don't delete it. It's like removing the number of unread PMs.. You don't want that, do you? (And yes, it shows the number of unseen items. You can simply click the number (in SMF1) or click 'Unseen' in the dropdown menu (in SMF2) and then click 'Mark all as seen' to reset the number.)

@mattek> admin > gallery > settings > layout. Reduce max number of items per row.

@aard²> Aeva FAQ? There's already one written and posted by Akyhne, isn't there?

@aard3> Preview size is used in item pages, not album/home pages. This here is dealt with thumbnail sizes (and number of items per line)

@kingkingston> Well, seems a pretty clear error message to me... Just reupload that file to that folder and you get rid of the error. Then re-install correctly.
I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered.

How about disabling the display in the button?  I think that's what the goal was--not to disable the stat gathering. It's nice to have the stat--it's not so good to have the stat in the button.

@clara> You can disable the Unseen permission for selected membergroups. Ideally, they will no longer get the unseen areas (and thus won't see the numbers show up). In reality though, it's buggy -- it stills shows them. I'll make sure to fix that in the next update.

First Thanks for the help with the button issue!

Second, The Aeva FAQ I'm writing is meant only for posters using Aeva on a forum or in the gallery not for admin or forum owners.

I'm compiling questions people have asked on other forums like "How do I post a video here?" and using it to create a sort of forum user tutorial for the general public. If you or anyone else can use it to help out on a forum you are operating I will be glad to post it.

I'm offering because I hate to be someone who just takes and takes, you have done a lot of great work for everyone. If there's anything I have you can use I'll be more than glad to share!

Last, I'm still kicking myself for overlooking the obvious about the row size! :-[

Thank you, but permissions isn't the issue. Everybody has the proper permissions I want them to have.  I just don't want the Gallery button to simply say Gallery and nothing else.  No numbers.  Can you help with making the button without numbers? Please?
