Also, i would like to know how to remove the audio option from the shoutbox completely, and delete the audio file associated with it. It is annoying for many of my members, as their download managers integrated with their browser tend to download it or popup everytime they load the main forum page. I am having this problem as well. I use Internet Download Manager and Firefox and it keeps showing an option to download that audio file from the shoutbox. The audio in the shoutbox is unnecessary and completely useless in my forum, so i would like instructions on how to remove that. I have deleted the audio file from the ftp server but i would like to properly remove the audio button and all code associated with it, as my server cpanel error log shows missing audio file.

I have installed this mod on both my forums. One is running SMF 1.1.11 and the other is running SMF 2.0 RC3.
Instructions for both forums would be very welcome.

EDIT: I would also like to report a bug with the shoutbox's smileys. When i click on the smiley the list appears and after clicking on the chosen smiley, the list stays open. It should close after clicking on the selected smiley. Too many of my members have complained about this minor bug for so long. I really hope it's fixed.

Here is another idea, which is very important IMO.

My forum members very often do the mistake of typing a search query in the shoutbox, instead of the search bar. Many many people do that mistake. And it's a hassle to always have to clean up the shoutbox many times every day. I would like a feature to be implemented, such that before the user clicks in the typing bar of the shoutbox, there is a text displayed that says something like: "This is for using the Shoutbox only and not a search bar. Use the search feature at the top of the forum". So, when the member clicks in the shoutbox bar, the message disappears completely, and if the member clicks outside of the shoutbox then the message reappears. It's nothing new, as it's been done for the search bar area for some SMF themes and WordPress themes. I hope someone understands what i mean? If not, then i will do a screenshot of the shoutbox and add more pointers.

Love this mod, i really want to use it as a repacement for Ajax chat and the Shoutbox that comes with Simple Portal but i need to know if i can set this up to limit the amount of messages a user can send in 3 seconds?

I've searched the whole of SMF for a instant chat mod that features anti spam protection and none seem to offer it.

Surely it can't be that hard to code is so a person can only submit a message every (set amount of seconds)?

Or the ability for the bot to temporary ban anyone who posts more than 3 messages in a period of 3 seconds?

My biggest problem with SMF chat programs is people spam with them with smilies or pointless repeated sentences to the annoyance of everyone and theres nothing i can do about it apart from keep deleting their messages, there's got to be a better way!

Can anyone help?

you will have to manual edit. use the site's parser to find where to place the code.

TinyPortal has shoutbox feature integrated, so you won't need any separate mod, nor this one. I think SimplePortal has it also, but not sure. Just try it. And then you can easily uninstall it.

- Not compatible with opera latest version
- When you click on 'Moderation Panel', a popup opens but also a redirection page, popup Enough!

Can some one please help me to fix two problems in SMF 2.0 RC3 Version of SMFPack Shoutbox!

1.  how can I remove the collapse button of the SMFPack Shoutbox it should appear always no need of collapse button or to collapse automatically for GUEST.... Even I didn't check the option AUTO HIDE but it hiding automatically for guest with unnecessary space...!

2. I observed that messages in shoutbox not appearing for GUEST it strick on refresh icon but when click on update function running properly along with messages display. some javascript and user login issue i think so! thats why i'm getting errors notification in task bar of internet explore. Here I'm posting the Javascript error and Default Screen for guest when he visit with empty unnecessary space collapsing as in following images

you tried changing his/her user color in member group had to change 1 or two of mine so they show in all skins some just dont as you can see......

i will use this at my forum

but, how I to add a Navigation into the shoutbox, just like in moderation panel
moderation has a navigation
but in shoutbox there is NO Navigation, how to add?

I limit 10 in page one, but i want users can navigate to page2, page3, until the limit all messages (I set this 1000), please help me

hello all.

SMFPacks Shoutbox    1.0 was uploaded to my yet to be launched forum by the help of the SMF support team.

Using SMF: 1.11
Theme: Reference

My questions are:
- No sound is being heard while something is posted and the Volume icon
- What about Smileys. how can I make then appear on my shoutbox interface?
- There is no private chat for members?
