Hello loyal SMF users, admins and others!

The SMF team has its ups and downs, its growth and shrinkage, and its releases and delays, but the project marches onward, regardless of the individuals, even when it's moving slowly.

You may have noticed a recent shift in badges
-- Our previous PM and developer, Suki, decided to step down, so I have been appointed as PM pro tempore until the scheduled elections in the Jan/Feb time-frame.
-- Some team members have stepped up into new roles.
-- We're looking to add some new team members as well.

The team sticks together and we continue to move forward.

-- 2.0.13 will be released shortly.
-- We are working on adding php7 and some other capability enhancements into the 2.0.x release line
-- We are working on getting the official beta3 release of the 2.1 line out as well.

Now, you ask, when will all this happen. (shame on you for asking that! You know our mantra, by now!)  -- WHEN IT'S READY. :D   However, that ready will be "soon" (as opposed to "sometime") :)

thanks go out to our team, for the amazing work that they do, and to all of you, for your continued support of SMF.

Thanks for your hard work!

But only if they come often, not sporadically like this one.

It's nice to finally see some info and updates though, thanks.

Thanks for the update.

Thanks to the whole SMF team, & to Suki for her help & guidance in recent months.

& Thanks to you, Kindred, for stepping in whenever & wherever it's needed.

Thank you very much for the update info and all the hard work making this fine forum free for all of us to use and enjoy!

I myself am a fan of free information and all I do is spread this and other info to the user. Even though some are in it for the monetary reasons,  I have issues with that, however if you are, then one must be ready to wait. Many here are working hard as volunteers to give us, what I have always considered.. through many years of testing other Forums, Blogs and Systems this is the best one yet. I can do most anything I wish with the SMF.

I feel it's best to speak positive about SMF and show the public how to setup and use the Forum system. This will get more users on board, so to gain an up word  public interest in this system. We all need to do our part promoting positive remarks, rather than the negative!

The V 2.1Betas, I've been using them live from the day the were released, (this not recommended by SMF) how ever it show me, it is well on the right path!

stmaxx, how has the beta been working for you?  I really need to do an upgrade, but our forum is pretty active, so I need to make sure it's pretty stable.  Also, please PM me regarding a theme.

1- this is not a thread for discussion like that.
2- the beta are, by nature, not stable - and there is no direct/patch upgrade -- which is why you should never use a beta on a production site.

I do hope SMF gets itself sorted out and perhaps makes its decision making more transparent and democratic - to stop losing staff.
It is falling behind too much and failing dedicated volunteers.

The most popular portal and always in the top 4 of mods, may well be closing its doors next year because there is no demand... people are moving away from SMF and it is not attracting  people as it was before.
Another stalwart supporter of SMF with a portal has recently forked 2.1 and left in frustration.

I have been using SMF since 2010 when there was so  much optimism. I do not want to make these comments but what else can people do... the management system is not working and not fixing it will just continue to hold back SMF.
