User default post color

This tip has been in some way ported over to be a modification package located on the SMF modsite. Please note, the mod package may not do the exact same function and may not even use any of the code originally written for the tip, but should still hold the same basic functionality of the tip posted here. With the mod package for this tip, you can now let the SMF package manager make the code changes for you without you having to look at the code and edit it manually.

For documentation on using the SMF package manager, view this document.

To download the modification package, [please click here].

How about a setting in profile to select default font and/or color for the member's post?  I know I've seen that before, I think on an ikonBoard.

What exactly does this option do. I didn't get it. Do you mean every usergroup should have another colour in posts?

I think he means setting a default font and color for the messages you post on the forum. You can change them using SMFC and I think he wants to set set the default per user in the profile.

I mean let each member select their own font color/style so their posts will always default to that color/style unless they select a different color/style ... and um... I'm female.

Sounds like it would probably be a very simple Mod, actually.. I'll look into it when SMF is available.

Well, considering that next time I set up a forum, I'm planning to disable the font, size, color, shadow, glow tags (at least), I most probably would not care for this feature.

I can see, though, how many would value it, if not built-in, as a mod at least.

In a forum I created, most users had their own style, certain combinations of the above mentioned tags and sometimes even move. That's where I got the phobia that made me want to disable them all in the future. :P

I stuck this on... The only thing I could find was in the profile, under layout and settings there were two new windows... The description for each was ":" - just a colon... so I don't know if these are boxes for the colour setup or not.. and if they were, how do you use them?

Thanks,

Mark.

Not working for me. I tried in RC2 and RC1. Also I have to manually add the language to the Modifications.english.php even though the Package Manager tells me that the installation was successful.

add this to your Modifications.english.php
Code: [Select]
$txt['bbc_before'] = 'Automatic BBC Before Posts';
$txt['bbc_after'] = 'Automatic BBC After Posts';
$txt['disallow_auto_bbc'] = 'Disallow automatic BBC';

but even so, it's still not working now unless I am adding the tags incorrectly.

So do you put the open bbc tags in the first box in your profile, and the close bbc tags in the second box?

Yes, from what I understand. That's what I did, I tried simple bold tags but it doesn't work for me.

Just out of curiosity, where exactly is that custom information stored (tags)? I don't see them stored in the database anywhere.
