Philosophy aims at the logical clarification of thoughts. Philosophy is not a body of
doctrine but an activity. A philosophical work consists essentially of elucidations.
Philosophy does not result in 'philosophical propositions', but rather in the clarification of
propositions. Without philosophy thoughts are, as it were, cloudy and indistinct: its task is to make them clear and to give them sharp boundaries.

I am thinking that 1.0 preview is released to charter members and by the time it comes to the public it wil be called 1.0 final with maybe a few very small changes from 1.0 preview. At least that is what I think I heard awhile back. I could be wrong. As for when it will be released I believe it usually takes 1 to 2 weeks to be released to the public after it is released to charter members.  :)

I hope it's the sooner than the latter. :)

Unless something drastic occurs, the public version should be out by the end of the month at the very latest.

Are there just bugfixes in the Preview version or are there also some new fucntions?

Owdy

No new functions i belive. I think eaven 'RC' means that no new functions anymore, just bugfixes, right? :)

The only new feature I know of in the preview version is the "jump to last post" icon in the default theme. It does seem to be a bit faster as well.

Thanks for the confirmation. I'd buy a charter member ship, but at $50.00 a year, I could get more out of IPB v2.0 for only $15.00 more.................no offense, of course. Did the price go up or something? I thought that I saw it was a one-time fee of $20.00 last month, or am I just mistaken? :o ???

If you don't want to pay for Charter Membership, then just wait a few weeks and you get the same code as Charter Members get a little early. Doesn't that make it $65/year cheaper than IPB?
Chris

Oldiesmann

It's always been $50/year.

By the way - it would cost you an extra $20/year for an IPB license ($69.95/year).

Please quit comparing SMF to IPB or any other system. With IPB, you have to pay just to get support in the first place. Here you get free releases and as much free support as you need. Charter Membership fees directly support SMF's development. I have a feeling that IPB's license fees go straight into someone's bank account. If you don't want to pay $50 for charter membership, then be patient and wait like everyone else does.

Sorry... I just got a little annoyed at that comment...

One more thing - I was looking at IPB's site, and according to them, each license includes 2 free upgrades. After that it'll cost you $10 per upgrade. Even if you spend $200 for the lifetime license. Charter memberships come with unlimited free upgrades ;)

Kender - I was referring to having someone upgrade your board for you (although I already do that for non-charter members - I'm the "official" tech guy on 5 or 6 different SMF boards now ;)).

Well, actually, you wait about the same time, with just a little time difference. ;)
