But it also allows videos, audio files, text files, zips, PDFs, and so on... I could just as well call it a "Download system", but it is not either -- it would reduce it to something less than it is.

No, but it can be done. Install Coppermine Gallery 1.4 and use their tools to import a Gallery2 system to CPG. Then use the AM tool to import a CPG system. If you have hundreds of pics, it's worth the time.

Thanks for the tip. I installed Coppermine and managed to import my Gallery2 images into that. I set it to bridge to SMF 1.1.11 and that seems to work okay. Then I downloaded the Gallery Converters.zip [nofollow] from the mod page for aeva media and ran the converter script for Coppermine. During the album creation, I'm getting a ton of messages like this (mypath is a shorthand for my actual path)

Let me guess, you're using SMF 1.1, and you've installed some version of Aeva Media.

For SMF 1.1 you will have to modify those themes manually to add the button.

Please also note that use of lots of capitals is seen as shouting.

I have two questions that I hope. I truly hope you can help with.

1. HOW can I take the media tab off the top of the forum? I want to move it in the upright corner. I have done this with others but I can not seem to find the right code to take out in subs.php


2. Is there a way a guest  can see / view the media files but when the click to play or download it says "sry you must be logged"

'Prevent users from seeing membergroups'? But what if all members are in a default primary membergroup? They will be hidden, too...

Very simple: If 'Prevent users from seeing membergroups' (or whatever the name of the setting will be) is set, offer only an ability to choose whether guests should have access to the album or not (as it was in former SMG i.e. version 1.5.6).

The background is as follows: If a simple user is faced with the list of 18 (or even more) membergroups with two options each (read and write) this would be a cause for unnecessary confusion, misunderstanding and errors (and more work for the admin to explain and correct). Apart from this, as already mentioned, the users will see the membergroups itself which is not supposed to, as IMO the visibility and managing of membergroups should be an admin thing.

Just to clarify: Its no criticism about the freedom to fine-tune the access settings as requested by many people, this is a very powerful feature. But it would also be nice to have the option to keep it simple as it was before  .

Has this issue been addressed in the latest update? I think for most members who have never seen an SMF admin panel to suddenly be confronted with 20 or so user groups in which to allow R W permission in order to create an album is a bit of overkill. Most regular posters have no idea what memebergroups are, who belongs to which group and who doesnt.

Other than that, it's an awesome mod but i dont want to be writing tutorials and fielding endless PMs in order to instruct members how to properly create a media album. I hope an alternate, simpler version like the quote above suggests is made.

I am using SMF 2.0 RC2 and have installed Avea Media. Now I have installed a theme called YinYang and Avea Media's Icon not showing.

How to manually make it appear.

What icon, exactly? Is the main menu bar a series of icons? Aeva Media doesn't, as far as I know, come with such an icon meaning you'd have to add it yourself.

What a monster mod. This must be a full time job and then some LOL. My SMF 1.1.11 forum and my server is toast so moving my site to another server with a fresh SMF 2.0. Leaving all MODS and data bases behind.

Question: I am only dumping my members and posts in the new site. I think the last I had was  Aeva ~ Auto-Embed Video & Audio 6.0.66  If I install the latest version of this beauty (and it is beautiful) any chance my million youtubes in posts will reappear like magic?

I think she means they are currently NOT showing up.
In which case, filipina, (thanks for your kind message by the way And yes it's pretty close to an unpaid fulltime job), I think you're having the same problem as someone else reported (YouTube links posted before august 2009 are broken). It doesn't happen to everyone but it can be fixed. The only problem is, I need to be able to reproduce it, so I need FTP access. Or at least get the exact contents of a post that doesn't embed.

PS: it's also very possible that the bug happens only on Aeva 6.x, but I haven't got reports about that. I suppose most people install a version once and keep it. That's precisely why the sitelist exists: to send people updates without them having to update the mod.

Move any associated images from Aeva Media Gallery to your theme's ./images directory.

I'm not sure it'd help... Copying is okay, but moving isn't. I think Aeva Media tries to retrieve them from the default theme folder actually...
