Hi All,
I am using SMF 2.0RC2 and the latest PortaMX portal.

I want to have a gallery shown
like this:

http://www.highslide.com/examples/gallery-horizontal-strip.html

when I have posted for instance in a topic
10 pictures as attachments to a topic.

Then this gallery should show up,
when I click on one attached picture:

http://www.highslide.com/examples/gallery-horizontal-strip.html

and then the 10 pictures should be visible like in this
Highslide gallery.

Could I get this to work somehow with
Aeva Media 1.0 ?

Or with the paid Foxy plugin ?

I really like the automatic Slideshow and the small
thumbnails below the main picture.

So how could I get this to work with any SMF Gallery mod ?

I could also use PortaMX Single pages, if this would help somehow...

Many thanks.

Regards, Stefan.

Paid Foxy! plugin: no, it doesn't have that. It has plenty of other things though. I'll be resetting its price back to full tomorrow, so you'd better read the feature list :P

Highslide: the issue with the slideshow is twofold.
1/ Before Aeva Media, SMG had a paid-for slideshow made by Dragooon. This caused a conflict of interest which I didn't want to get into, so I never used the slideshow features of Highslide.
2/ Right now, I can do it, and I will. However, the Highslide slideshow components add an extra 40KB to the highslide.js filesize. It's not "nothing", especially if it's not used. Means I need to take time and decide what features I'll keep.

Also, I wanted to have it ready for 1.0 but it wasn't to be. Will be in 1.1, I think.

I don't see what this has to do with PortaMx and SMF Gallery? These mods are unrelated to AM.

Hi Nao,

Okay, if you can get to work any Slideshow feature with a lower thumbnail view under the main
picture as in:
http://www.highslide.com/examples/gallery-horizontal-strip.html

it would be really nice and I will then also use your Mod.

There should still be visible also any picture comments and picture descriptions
when you switch back to normal view.

Okay, if it loads 40 KBytes more data is not important for me.
In todays times of fast DSL lines, it should not matter...

When do you think you will have the 1.1 version with such a slideshow out ?
in just a few days or will it be weeks away ?

Many thanks again for your great hard work !
Regards, Stefan.

Hi Nao,
also what I would like to see in
AEVA Media would be an
automatic import feature of Youtube videos.

I would like to get  a feature,
that automatically embeds ALL the
videos of a Youtube User
into an already opened Topic
with all the comments from youtube and the
videocomments.

So if I make a new topic ( board) in SMF for
each of my Youtube friends of youtube users
I like to show the videos of them in my
forum, this would be great, that their new
videos are automatically added, if they will
post a new video on their youtube channel.

Could something like this be integrated into
Aeva Media or would this need
a Cronjob script that runs each day and checks for
new videos of the Youtube users I want to import ?

Would be great, if we could get such an automatic import
feature for youtube videos.

Regards, Stefan.

@hartiberlin: mmh.. I think it's a "performance killer" feature.... but maybe I'm wrong... ;)

Since everyone else is making a wish list.   :o

In a future version I will like to see the big album folders put into memory so that they load faster?

Putting the album folders in memory - even if you can put them into one of the persistent caches like memcached or similar would very likely make absolutely no difference at all to loading them.

I agree.  40k of compressed data is somewhere around 1/6 second on my 3Mb DSL.  Probably not even the size of an average preview.  I'm guessing it's the actual execution time that would be the lions share of the process, and if someone's trying to look at a slideshow they're not going to care if it needs a couple of seconds to queue up.

Hmm, wans't me. I did register on your site at the same time I did here. I was about to ask there, but I figured it to be a noobish question and thus directed it here. :(

Previously, the SMF Media Gallery I used a block from the Gallery SimplePortal and everything worked well.

After the transition to Aeva Media get just such an error (see attachment)

Nao 尚

Freaky... I checked my history and I replied here, actually. I have no idea why my post didn't get published.
Anyway, quick answer: this is due to a limitation in the recent updates. View counts are now made directly when loading a local file. If it's a remote video, it won't work, I didn't think of that.
Local video counts should still be increased, though. I think?

Can anyone confirm?

@Bugo1> Hmm well I suppose it's a limitation in your theme. This will be fixed in the next release.

@Bugo2> ask the Simple Portal maintainers to update it for Aeva Media. They can't add support for it before it's released... (Well, they could, but I wouldn't expect them to!)

@butchs> ?

@harti>

"it would be really nice and I will then also use your Mod."

That's cool, but you know, having you "use my mod" is not my ultimate goal in life... If you don't, fine by me. I'm not going to add features for someone just because he won't use my mod if I don't.
It's not important for you that it loads 40kb of extra data, great... But that's pretty selfish, isn't it? What about users who are in deep country and can't get access to DSL tech?

As for your YouTube request, it's not exactly a "small" feature you're asking for...
Really, you're not very realistic in your requests, eh. Remember it's a free mod. If you don't want to use it, then don't.

@Bugo: here's the simpleportal block updated:

function show_aeva_media_block()
{
   global $sourcedir;

   // Set amount visible
   $visible = 4;

   // Load the language file
   loadLanguage('Aeva');

   // Grab the file.
   if (file_exists($sourcedir . '/Aeva-Subs.php'))
      require_once($sourcedir . '/Aeva-Subs.php');

   // If it doesn't exist, tell them this and stop running.
   else
   {
      echo '<b>You don\'t have Aeva installed! Unable to continue!</b>';
      return;
   }

   // Use aeva functions to show the media.
   $images = aeva_listItems(aeva_getMediaItems(0, $visible, 'RAND()'), true, '', 0);

   echo '
      <div id="aeva_pics" style="width: 100%;" overflow="visible">
         <div align="center">'. $images. '</div>
      </div>';
}

show_aeva_media_block();

Change $visible = 4; with the number of images you want!

Clarification, I mean, just the big folder icon.  I think the "template_button_strip" function does it in SMF 1.1.X.

When you have a boat load of albums the large folder icons take forever to load.

butchs: Putting that in memory will not actually save anything, without re-engineering a lot of AM, I think.
