Interesting, since it should have made the custom edits to your index.template.php. You'll have to make the changes yourself in that case.

Go to the mod's page, select your version then select Parse; that'll show you what edits the mod makes to index.template.php, you'll have to make those edits yourself.

Hi,

I have just installed AEVA and it went well with no errors, the only problem is that there is no 'Gallery' button? Where the old button was there is now a small gap, how do I get the button back so that users can actually get to the new AEVA gallery!?!??

Thanks.
Did you have errors when installing?
Do you use a custom theme?
Do you use another language than english on the forum? (english-utf8 is considered another language, do you use it?).
ETA: oh, long ninja-ed!

@ALL
Nao wrote in REV225 @ Took decision to leave the SMF community after that.
Please leave positive feedback to him and all developers on SMF to honor the work.
For myself, i say thank you and i hope you will change your mind.
Thank you for the message, petesky.
I definitely hope Nao will reconsider. I truly regret seeing such ugly heated situations and IMO, they are not to continue, really. And that's that about it.
But that doesn't change in the slightest the appreciation for Nao's work, all this huge amount of time he gives for coding for years, for free, around SMF, and even much more time for supporting his mods (yes...), and while I am certain that many do know it very well, still, many of us, don't really, ever or close to, say anything.

Nao: I'm not speaking as anything else right now but one of the people who downloaded SMG/Aeva, and had them working flawlessly. Too flawlessly. You don't hear my voice, because I'm a bastard and if I have nothing to complain about, and if your code was making things so handy for me that I have nothing else I need, then I ... forget to say anything.
For what is worth: thank you.

hmmmm... apparently the "conversation" has been removed in its entirety, since I can't find anything from pegasys or nao...

Well I think it's Nao's decision and he have rights to do what he pleases with his mod and his decision weather he stays or not. Well this is truly a unfortunate event.  :(

Yes I've read the Pegasys' posts but I don't think he's leaving the community for that.. In every project there are always child users that think that it's a job and they must receive the best support/product/reply in the minor time.. and all must be perfect and of course gratis!! They simply don't understand that they have to be glad to devs for all their work, the passion and the time they're givin'!! Anyway - as I said - these persons exist.. we (you, in this case) simply have to ignore (or sometimes rant :P) 'em.... The solution isn't leaving the community!! Maybe you can reduce (or temporary stop) your support here and simply work to the mod when you want, without any roadmap or time or promised features!!

Nao: I didn't reply on this before, but I want to echo what Norv has said.

I'll be honest. I don't actually use Aeva myself. But that doesn't mean I can't appreciate the effort that went into it. Last I heard you said it had 32,000 lines of code, which is a monster to handle under any circumstances (makes SimpleDesk's ~9k look puny)

I think I can understand how you feel, too. It is possible to take something and be too close to it. When SD went to beta earlier this week, it had bugs - but to be fair, it's beta. When the only messages I got initially were about things wrong with it and no-one said anything actually positive, I could only conclude that I'd royally screwed up (and some of the beta team realised how pissed I was).

I realised that I was too close to it, like I am with all the mods I've cared for.

When I saw the argument build, I wanted to say something but realised it was actually ultimately futile :( People who aren't programmers don't understand the love that grows for something when you work on it day after day after day after day. They aren't familiar with how much work goes in, and how that when you insult the work, you insult the creator too.

As I said elsewhere, I'm not surprised you decided to leave here, because as we've talked about before, there's no real satisfaction in answering the same question over and over and over because people don't read what it's front of them.

I'm sorry to see you go, if only because it meant there was someone here who understood that mentality, that people like us go make stuff because we enjoy it and we want to make more of it rather than endlessly rehash issues that could be solved by people taking a deep breath and reading what is in front of them.

NO, I suspect he's leaving because he was put on warning/moderation because of his response to the post. :(

We all know that Nao can be somewhat Gallic (i.e. hot headed, emotional) and apparently he went a little overboard on pegasys...

Thing is, this isn't the first, second or probably dozen'th time something like this has happened.

I posted a bit more in the main thread though. The minute you get a mod like this going, no matter what you do it's going to be wrong for someone.

Kindred: I'm not surprised, it was a strong response, but you know as well as I do that Nao is as hot-headed as he is because he cares (no matter how much he denies it ;) heh) about Aeva Media.

I'm just the same, and for the same reason. I've just found an alternative way of dealing with it than shouting at the people who won't listen anyway.

Kindred

yeah, I finally tracked it down.

His response was a little over the top (and was actually part of the reason this mod/board was originally put on approval)

Perhaps I should put the board back into approval required...

Kindred: I have an idea, not that it'd ever get implemented :(

What you need is like a verification question mod, that asks people random questions from the AM FAQ in order to make posts in this board (team members and Nao exempted, perhaps) and refuse to allow them to proceed until they get the answer right. Would meant they'd have to read the FAQ first ;)

lol...   while amusing in concept, it does seem unlikely to happen.

I hear ya, Kindred, that's partly why I left Support for Cust. team originally. ;)

Like in SimplePortal.net: before users can post in the support board they need to read the faq.. only after they've read 'em they can post... :D

Norv

I don't think this has anything to do with Aeva specifically.
What version of SMF are you using? It looks like you may have a SMF2 RC1.2 database, and SMF2 RC2 code. Please make sure you upgrade your board fully, to RC2, and afterwards, install mods for RC2.

OOOO, that gives me an idea for expanding one of SimpleDesk's features.
