It's not actually corrupted, just far from standard; as we established elsewhere it's a UNC style path on a Windows host. PHP and SMF don't like it much.

Hi  Nao
Great MOD by far it has to be said :)
One of my Users just posted a link from snotr.com but it's not working!
The site is live and working from them. Some great vids on this site so if/ when you have the time could see what they've done to break it please?
Cheers and thanx in advance if you can take a look...
PS. Running sms 1.1.10 and Aeva Current version: 6.9.99
Is there a reason you are using the old version of Aeva? Anyway, you are right that snotr is not working, but easy to fix.

In Subs-Aeva-Sites.php, search for
array(
'id' => 'sno',
'title' => 'Snotr',
'website' => 'http://www.snotr.com',
'type' => 'video',
'added' => '<4.0',
'pattern' => 'http://(?:www\.|videos\.)?snotr\.com/(?:player\.swf\?video=|)?(?:video|embed)/(\d{1,8})',
'movie' => 'http://videos.snotr.com/player.swf?video=$2&embedded=true&autoplay=false',
'size' => array(400, 330),
// http://www.snotr.com/video/1210
'fix-html-pattern' => '<iframe src="$1"[^<>]*?></iframe>',
'fix-html-url' => 'http://www.snotr.com/video/$2',
),

and replace it with
array(
'id' => 'sno',
'title' => 'Snotr',
'website' => 'http://www.snotr.com',
'type' => 'video',
'added' => '<4.0',
'pattern' => 'http://(?:www\.|videos\.)?snotr\.com/(?:player\.swf\?video=|)?(?:video|embed)/(\d{1,8})',
'movie' => 'http://www.snotr.com/player.swf?v6&video=$2&embedded=true&autoplay=false',
'size' => array(400, 330),
// http://www.snotr.com/video/1210
'fix-html-pattern' => '<iframe src="$1"[^<>]*?></iframe>',
'fix-html-url' => 'http://www.snotr.com/video/$2',
),

Nao 尚

DerEine, can you confirm that the pattern URL is the only thing that changed?
(I guess I can issue an automatic update for that.)

@Nao: The only thing I changed was the "movie"-value. The videos on snotr aren't hosted on "http://videos.snotr" anymore. It's just "http://www.snotr" now. I also added the "v6"-parameter inside the URL (... /player.swf?v6& ...). This seems to be optional, but snotr does this, too.

So the only thing that really needs to be changed is the "videos"-part of the movie-URL, which needs to be changed to "www".

Nao 尚

Yeah, I meant movie part, not pattern part ;)
I'll do the change then!

I can't swear to what it was, (been a while) but there was a really small tweak a while back that I put somewhere that was causing this for me. Only the tweak (@$%$, I can't rememeber what it was) was working and so was SMG until I ran one of  the SMG upgrades and I started getting this white page thing. This was with the SMG CP I think though. I actually did chase it down in my Apache log. I doubt if this exact same tweak is the issue here, but the point is it could be something unrelated to AEVA, at least directly, and the answer could indeed be in the error log for the server.

NAO may even remember this vaguely as he commented at the time that it was "interesting" but didn't know why it was causing it offhand. Then again he must have several million posts since then so probably not.

Nao 尚

Uh, that single little change got Aeva's download numbers to bump by 5.000 more downloads... At this point I'm not sure whether the automatic sitelist update is a curse or a blessing ;)

I already asked the team once whether it would be allowed to have such a download hosted in my mod page, I didn't really get a negative answer so I proceeded as intended, but by now maybe it's eating too much bandwidth? I could move the Subs-Aeva-Sites.php download over to my site if you'd prefer. I wanted to put it on the SM.org website to ensure it would be live as long as SMF is.

Although, I'm updating the file less than I used to, so maybe now it's come to acceptable results actually. ;)

Anyway-- 200k downloads! Hurray! Of which probably half are the sitelist update! Not hurray!  O:)

Hey,

I'm doing up a forum/website with SMF 2.0 (RC2) & Aeva and noticed while doing the index page (with SSI.php) that Aeva isn't XHTML Transitional friendly (according to the W3C Validation http://validator.w3.org/) and as far as I know this is what SMF uses. Is there anyway that would be possible? It's not really needed, I more so just OCD about things like this and Aeva is the only error popping up. :X

I don't know much about embedding etc. I read about how to embed flash (a music file in his example) in a XHTML friendly form here.

Nao 尚

Could you post the error message? I don't remember having errors myself... I'm sure there are, but I don't remember them.

I know I try to be as xhtml valid as possible when working on SMG, but Aeva is a different matter though -- being valid doesn't mean 'working on every browser' I'm afraid.
Anyway, being valid could be a good goal for Aeva Media as well.

I've just installed this incredible mod, it works well for many site (I haven't test all), but with video from Youtube and some other sites, it doesn't.

No video player is displayed, no error message too.

This code :

Nao: It might be me but there seems to be an issue with SSI at the moment. Using IE8 (I don't btw), BBC News embeds work fine in the forum but not in SSI. I compared the embed code and they are actually different! The one in the forum mentions some javascript code, the one in SSI has no mention of javascript.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled and messed around with settings but the result is the same. It may be worth knowing that when I enabled "Javscriptless embedding", it failed everywhere regardless of whether it was in the forum or SSI.

Hmmm, just noticed something odd.

I'm using SSI.php to make a custom index page for this website. When I pull forum posts using this Aeva uses <embed> instead of <object>, however if I go to the post inside the forum it uses <object>. Is it ok to PM you with links instead of posting them here?

Could this be a problem with SSI and not Aeva?

Hello, this may seem like a n00b post, but please bear with me. I am really trying to understand how this mod works (which is a really awesome concept I might add). My issue is not that Aeva is not working, it seems to be, just not for different file types, but that may just be my own misunderstanding, and that I may need to take more action. I have pretty much everything enabled in the Admin section, so configuration etc has all been taken care of.

I have it installed (using SMF 2.0RC2) and everything has gone very smoothly so far. YouTube videos embed perfectly, but I am trying to figure out what is needed to get local (or even remote) media files to work properly. Currently all we get is a direct link in the post instead of an embedded player...so my questions:

- Do I need to have a player installed locally on the site? If so what is recommended? Does Aeva call out a specific player when it embeds, or is this something that should be relevant to the site itself? Hopefully you can point me in the right direction for this
- Can remote files (such as a swf) be linked to directly or do they need the extra bit of information for a player at the end of the URL? If they can be linked to directly, can I assume that I would need a local player installed that can be called out so that the media file is properly displayed in a player?

Hopefully this doesn't sound too stupid as I am really just trying to find out what all I need to do post-install to ensure that all the file types supported (.avi, .swf, mp3, etc...) are properly embedded with appropriate players.

Thanks for any help!

Nao 尚

EdWong, I need to see your forum page in context.

Mark, IIRC Javascript embedding is disabled on SSI pages because there's no guarantee I can add the required Javascript to the page headers.

Sorry, I don't understand.

I'm asking if you know why there is a bug that is stopping BBC News embedding in IE8... it works fine in Firefox. I never had this problem before.

Nao 尚

I don't know. I'm not using non-Javascript embedding much these days. I'm not using IE8 at all. Can anyone confirm? On sites other than BBC?
