Is there a default maximum height to a block and if so where can it be changed?
I have a left hand PHP block and I am trying to avoid the vertical slider appearing.

Angelina Belle

If you exceed the allowable width, you'll get both horizontal and vertical scroll bars.
But I don't think there is a default maximum height.

How good of this portal work? Is TIny Portal better?

I am just asking.

I prefer the way this portal looks compared to TP.

I should go with this portal then? It's be easy to take care then TP?

What do you think I should go with?

Angelina Belle

I've known users who switched back and forth several times.

If you are not certain, then try both out in test forums. See which one is more pleasant for you to use. See which one has more of your "must have" features.

I donot have a test site at all. I cannot allow one with my host because it's free host. I have use TP before. But and I wanna to try this portal out

Angelina Belle

That's a tough one. You might be able to set up a test forum on another free host site. Then, you will be better able to make your decision.

Yes, I know it very aware of that.

Umm, Do you know any free hosting for a test site?

Angelina Belle

I'm sorry.  I've never used free hosting.
Oh! I see you are already trying SimplePortal out on the forum you link in your signature. I hope it does what you like.

Yea, Over at Tiny Portal someone is helping me out about a test site plus some hosting too.

I will go back and foth to SimplePortal and Tiny portal. Tiny Portal is the first portal out I tried few year's back when I start to use SMF. Tiny Portal is my child kindly because it the portal I use first.

So we have to wait and see Simple Portal can do for me.

In the mean time Tiny Portal is going wait and I can try figuer out what is going on with it with the error's I was having.

Thank's Belle!

does anybody know a fix for Shoutbox Spam? Its very annoying :/

The administrator can delete individual shouts.  There is a little icon next to each one. Click it, and the post will disappear.

Running this configuration for a long time, I've recently received .

"http : // mysite.org/index.php?

Any clue why I receive this error ?

  lines 1606 to 1612  in PortalBlocks.php

<div class="sp_image smalltext">', ($showLink ? '
<a href="' . $item['file']['href'] . '">' . $item['file']['filename'] . '</a><br />' : ''), '

</div>
</td>', !$direction ? '

I'm not using  downloads block by the way ...

Angelina Belle

This is unusual.

Usually, unexpected syntax errors come from custom php blocks.  But it ought to say something about eval'd code in that case, I would think.

Have you recently added any custom php blocks?

Seems, one time occurance.  I removed some html block and add 1 or 2  , very recently.
Will track when happens ...

Thanks. It seems to be a browser thing.
Firefox only gives me a horizontal slider. IE gives me both.
Also IE will introduce the sliders where Firefox doesn't see need for them.
Frustrating!

yes, i already know, but thats not the point. it is annoying to delete over a hundred posts because it is possible to spam them in a short time without block.

is there a solution for it?

Angelina Belle

As you have surmised, SimplePortal does not have a tool for that. It has been suggested as a new feature for the next major version.

Your next best bet might be your favorite database tool -- you could find all the shouts from one user, and delete them all at once.
