No check webserver permissions

I read the title you have wrote about mod_security . I added that code in my .htacces file. But I still can't see comments etc. pages.

I fixed my http error;

I changed the link tree

for example if the older link is articles;edit, I did it articles&edit. So I changed ; to & ...

But how can I do a last or recent articles block for my index?

is there a way that the articles waiting for submission could be seen in the moderating panel? maybe in the next update or something?

Not yet haven't looked at doing any SMF 2.0 specific features yet.

I was wondering if it is possible to change the menu button name from articles to something else.

I am running a techie type site, and want to change it to the word tutorials instead?

Is this possible.... ( i am fairly new to SMF, so dont want to break anything by "fiddling")

thanks

my website is very complicated so instead of having large amounts of links/pages i am trying to keep things down to a minimum.

I am using Simple portal... which has articles but they just arent as good as this actual mod. Which means i have 2 sets of articles hanging around. not good. i want them to be kept as boards aswell as articles

i was wondering if there is any way to do ANY 1 of the following. (In order of which i would prefer)

1.) have them share database tables so they can both display articles that are the same. so if you replied to a post in the forum version it would display as a comment and vice versa.

2.) change the add article link that apears in topics from my simple portals article system to post into both tables.

3.) when posting a topic click a checkbox to have it also submit to article

if anyone can help me that would be brilliant ... thanks :) x

The whole point of this mod is to SEPARATE the articles from normal posts...
(And you could use EZportal which links to this mod if you want a portal and articles system)

right erm ok... i understand the point of the mod - i was trying to find out if i can change that.

As you quite patronising just pointed out it keeps them SEPERATE i obviously know that which is why I'm trying to find a way to edit that. Is'nt that the whole point of adding modifications and adjustments to your smf to get it to function in the way you want for your websites needs.

You didnt actually answer my question at all.

seeing as how my question was never "what is the point of this mod?"

ive obviously looked at all the portal systems long before i posted this, to look for an alternative. ez portal doesnt have enough flexibility to have the blocks showing on the specific actions i need.

tiny portal would obviousy be the best but its not available for SMF 2.0 RC1. the portal mx doesnt have articles and so i would have to use the article mod and simple portals article layout and template look rubish... just like posts. I want them to be posts but look like articles!

but anyway can anybody answer my ACTUAL question, which was is it possible to do any of these things?

1.) have them share database tables so they can both display articles that are the same. so if you replied to a post in the forum version it would display as a comment and vice versa.

2.) change the add article link that apears in topics from my simple portals article system to post into both tables.

3.) when posting a topic click a checkbox to have it also submit to article

if anyone can help me that would be brilliant ... thanks :) x

I actually did answer your question, albeit indeirectly.
to answer your question more directly... not at all easily.

This mod stores the articles in a completely different format and table(s) from the post messages.

You would have to re-write the mod...

My forum is turning into vbgamer45 MOD central so please don't disappear :)

Love the MOD and I was wondering if two things might be included in a future update that I miss from my old blog mod

1) Option to show user avatar in the category and article view?
2) Add "most recent articles" link at the top of the forum?

Thanks

VBGamer.....

Im trying to apply manually the "addthis social bookmarking" mod to the articles in the article.template.php

"addthis social bookmarking" code

Code: [Select]

into article.template.php

Code: [Select]
// Show the title
echo '

', $context['article']['title'], '

';

echo '

',$txt['smfarticles_submittedby2'],'', '
', $context['article']['realName'], '
',$txt['smfarticles_date2'],' ',

timeformat($context['article']['date']), '

',$txt['smfarticles_views2'],' ',

$context['article']['views'], '

';

// Show Summary
if (!empty( $context['article']['description']))
echo '

',$txt['smfarticles_summary2'],'',
$context['article']['description'], '

';

// Show article
echo '

',parse_bbc($context['article_page']['pagetext']),'

';

My problem is,no matter where i add the social bookmark code,it shows crooked or out of place.

Any ideas?

I would try before summary
Code: [Select]
echo '

        ';

Excellent! Thank you. That was one place i didnt try as i was trying to add it to show after the total of "views". But this works just fine.

Article view on the article page itself? Or on the article listing page?

article view. I guess where users and guests read the actual article. It shows the posters name,views,etc. I figured the bookmarks could fit right in after it.

Like this:

Submitted By:  MoAv Date:  November 16, 2008, 02:12:04 PM Views:  95 {bookmarks here}

Here one of my articles...

http://www.chevyavalancheclub.com/index.php?action=articles;sa=view;article=34

Notice where the bookmarks ended up to? Right in the center.
