Yeah, but it's not because your users have bad taste (especially for IE, lol) that you can't support the best browser out there... O:)
I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered.

I disagree. Best browser ever, is Firefox. Worst is IE (in all editions). Third party small browsers like Opera have a huge impact in the world of mobile devices but not in the real world of PC internet.

By the way, I still cant find what is wrong with the album permissions in SMG in RC1. Cant be saved at all. Tested in two different domains, in two different SMF forums...

<fan mode>

Opera has a huge impact on serious web users who always have 100+ tabs open... It's the only browser that will deal with this situation without any signs of trouble, and making it very easy to switch from a tab to another... (Other people require to *scroll* through a list for hours... Ah!)

Opera is the innovator between many things that people consider were invented by Firefox. Well, try again...
Opera has better standards support than even Firefox does. And when Firefox announces with great noise that they just implemented a new CSS feature, well, Opera had it before.

Can you find me, let's say, three features that Firefox has, and Opera doesn't?

Can't be saved, what?

Separators in bookmarks.

That's one reason I don't like Opera.
Other than that, don't have a problem with it, myself. :)

When setting permissions in albums, no matter what you check/enter/choose, they go back to an unchecked state...

Well, beeing an admin, has tought me to spend time trying to fix common problems for common browsers, like Firefox and IE. If someone wants to use Opera or anything else, then its his choice not to be able to see stuff. Not mine. :)

Oh... You mean these?  ;D

Ctrl+Alt+B (open bookmarks), then select where you'd like to add a separator, right-click and select "Add a separator"... ;)

You're welcome.

Well I can understand that you wouldn't like Opera if it didn't have a feature you like. Nevertheless, it has it, so you'll have to find something else ;)
Same here: I don't like Firefox mainly because of the fact that I can't make all 100+ tabs fit on my tab bar without adding a scrollbar or a multi-line control. If you find something that does add this ability, I'll make sure to review it seriously.

Dragooon told me he had fixed this before RC1 so I removed it from my to-do-list... (Never had a problem on my side anyway so I would have had trouble fixing it...)

The thing with Opera is -- when it comes with it, it works with everything else, because it's very strict in terms of standards. So you'd better program your sites for Opera--you'll be sure they'll be standard, at least! :P

Main problem with IE, is Microsoft seems to think they can change the standard on their own...

Also on Board Admin can see the gallery but nobody else can ?

1. Maybe because of running Media Gallery SMF Gallery? Maybe a conflict?

2. Are permissions set for everyone else to see the gallery?

Technoman

1 media gallery is Only Installed with out the other galleries
2. all permmissions on all users are set to view media gallery

Then why is your file called Gallery.php, and not MGallery.php?

@ernest> And you didn't have the problem in previous betas?

I'm starting to wonder... Aren't you all simply complaining about problematic permissions when actually the latest RC *fixed* some permissions that were too...permissive?

Just check your General Permissions, membergroup by membergroup... I dunno...

same for me. but worser. it reverse to regular membergroups - and that hidden albums should not be seen by them!! this error was not there before rc1.

I have read thru these pages but am still not able to figure something out. lol. I can not see any "icon" or anything that should let me comment the items in the gallery, what do i gotta do for it to show? I do have my settings to let people comment, and I am the admin so shouldn't I be able to do whatever?

It seems like the gallery is working perfectly other then the comments. Is there something I need to edit in my theme possibly? I am using the blue version of the default :)

Thanks!

You've installed an old version. If you're having problems with the old version, please try out the new one (1.5 RC1, although RC2 will get released sometime today if you can wait, with more new features).

PS: make sure you enable the general permissions...

Hey everyone, I have some good and bad news... ;)

The bad news is that I've finally got to install a copy of SMF 1.1.6 in a sub-folder and installed SMG in it. As a result, I've been able to reproduce the \' bug and the unsaved permission bug. No thanks to Dragooon for telling me it was fixed in RC1! ::)

The good news is that since I've been able to reproduce them... I won't rest until I fix them :P
And it should be much easier to fix, now. Since I have ftp and sql access to the website :)
I'll keep you posted!

Fixing permissions not saving in General Albums (SMG 1.5 RC 1)

Open MGallery-Sub.php, go to line 826.

Replace
foreach ($_POST['groups'] as $group)

With
foreach ($_POST['groups'] as $id => $group)

Some troubles. After updating to RC 1 no gallery button and script can't open Gallery.php, when I click the "gallery" link in forum admin. However, in source folder there is MGallery.php. So perhaps it's looking for the wrong file?

I have also installation problems. Seems a couple of files aren't modificated. No MGallery code is to find in these files.

None of these problems occured in the earlier betas, btw.

Update: missing file modifications were caused by permission issues. Though I couldn't find what particular file was lack of permissions. However, updating worked fine, when I assigned 777 to all forum files.

As for the "gallery.php" error. Well, because the correct code modifactions were not made, the script tried to execute this line in index. php
'gallery' => array('Gallery.php', 'GalleryMain'),

I'm not sure, but I think it's a remain from the SMF Gallery lite that I had installed and de-installed a longer time ago. If yes, then I'm probably not the only one who has this remain in forum/index.php.

So all in all the issues which I reported here are actually NOT caused by RC 1.

Fixing backslashes (\) appearing in titles and descriptions (SMF 1.x + Any version of SMG)

Open Subs-MGallery.php, and replace
if ($context['is_smf2'])
foreach ($smcFunc as $k => $v)
{
if (substr($k,0,2) !== 'db')
$mgalFunc[$k] = $smcFunc[$k];
}
else
foreach ($func as $k => $v)
$mgalFunc[$k] = $func[$k];

With
if ($context['is_smf2'])
foreach ($smcFunc as $k => $v)
{
if (substr($k,0,2) !== 'db')
$mgalFunc[$k] = $smcFunc[$k];
}
else
{
$_POST = stripslashes__recursive($_POST);
$_GET = stripslashes__recursive($_GET);
$_REQUEST = stripslashes__recursive($_REQUEST);

foreach ($func as $k => $v)
$mgalFunc[$k] = $func[$k];
}
