I am testing the mod with a test version of SMF 2.0 b4 I have installed as well as with 1.1.7.

It works fine with 2.0, but still crashes the browser with 1.1.7 - not sure why.

By the way, it's an awesome mod :)
Bible Study, Catholic News, Youth Group Stuff (my humble attempt at an SMF site... I'm grateful to the amazing people who have made SMF what it is!!

I don't have time to read through 47 pages, so I apologise if this has been covered, but...

My browser crashes every time I try to do a Mass upload to an album. I use Mac OS X and this happen with all my browsers (Safari, FF and Flock).

Sometimes it happens when I hit 'Mass Upload' within the album. Other times, that's okay but then it goes wrong when I hit 'select files' within the Mass uploads screen.

Any thoughts??

I still crash when trying to use the mass upload feature too. I don't even have to hit SELECT FILES. I just click on the link and wait for the page to load and *poof!* FF crashes without warning. IE gives an error message at least. Nao was having me try stuff to see what the problem might be, but still haven't resolved it.

I still say it's more of a FireFox issue on FF crashing. IE showing an error is one thing, FF should do the same instead of continuously crashing.

I'm a diehard FF fan, yet even I am tired of FF crashing all the time. I have yet to have it crash on SMG, but that may be because I use SMF 2.0 Beta 4 version, not one for 1.1.x. However, FF does like to crash often.

Well... let's look at this analytically then:

Just using myself and "jackregan".

At least 3 different machines (Two with Windows XP, one with Mac OS X).

At least 4 different browsers FF, IE, Flock, and Safari.

ALL OF THE ABOVE have experienced problems with the mass upload feature not working.

Are we beginning to see a pattern yet? (Hint - it's not FF.)

Hey, I'm not saying there is not a problem. Just saying the crashing is FF. You even said that IE gives an error, while FF does not. You had also neglected to mention all the other browsers in previous posts that I could see. :P

Also, for your information, Flock is just a modified FF, using the Mozilla engine. ;)

On a different note....

I'm trying to upload a video file that is about 127 meg in size. It's failing to successfully upload. I *think* it is because I need to increase my server's upload size limit. (Vaguely remembering this from a totally different issue with a totally different program.) Does anyone happen to know where I can find that upload size limit so that I can increase it? I've looked all over my server settings and can't seem to find it anywhere, but I know it's there...

The issue is not the crashing, the issue is that there is an error - mass upload is not working.

Different browsers handle the error in different ways. FF crashes, IE puts out an error message. The CAUSE is the same even if the RESULT is different. The CAUSE is not FF, so we need to let go of that and look for the SOLUTION. Ok?

As far as I know, most hosts have it at a set value. You may have to ask them to up it for you.

Here's few things I need to know, to better help.

1. Type of hosting: Free, Paid, VPS, Dedicated server
2. Type of control panel: cPanel, Plesk, etc...

It is not a set value. I upped it previously (I think it used to be 40 meg and I upped it to 80-100ish). Paid server using cPanel. But, I did it so long ago that I cannot remember, for the life of me, where it is.

My cPanel has unlimited uploading, yet the way I had to do it on another host, was through the .htaccess file.

Hope that helps.

Ah! Yes, that was extremely helpful. I forgot that it was an actual FILE that needed to be edited. In my case, it's the php.ini file. It was previously set to 100 meg. I've now boosted that to 200 meg.

We'll see how that works. It's uploading now.

I'm off to the gym to work out. Only got to the gym twice this week. Ugh, I hate being so busy!

Nope... didn't work. After waiting and waiting and waiting (while it says "Loading...") I get an error message:

There was a error in uploading, please try again or contact the administrator.

The server is set at 200 meg limit. SMG is set at 300 meg limit. The video is 127 meg. So, any ideas?

It'd be best if you actually gave me access to the Mass Upload feature in your website... :P You *can* also force me to be approved, I don't mind, I don't want the stuff published, I just want to test it...

Apart from that, I tried the mass upload module with IE7 on mforum's board (SMF 1.1.7), and it did complete the upload process without crashing... (?)

Oh, yes: for large uploads, I'm not competent. Maybe Dragooon will be able to help... The error message is definitely too vague. Dragooon, shouldn't we print out something more detailed?
I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered.

Yeah, I don't doubt it works on others. Just wish it worked on mine. *grin*

Somebody go wake Dragooon up! *grin*

Dragooon

Nobody wakes me up, otherwise you will be roasted.

Anyways, it seems like Nao is working on FancyUpload and seems to be having some sort of success.

I've had success reproducing mforum's SMF1+Opera bug on my own server, that's all... :P I really, really am still scratching my head when it comes to fixing it.

As for crashes, nope, sorry, can't reproduce them anymore on my computer for now... So I kinda consider these as fixed thanks to the updated swf file :P

BYUFanatic,

I just thought of the most obvious questions that have not been asked.

The computers you are using, how old are they? What speed? How much RAM?

Also, what is the error the IE gives you?

I don't know why it doesn't, honest...
I see the error, and I get the same behavior as on Opera+SMF1 (the page goes up to the top, no file browser appears...), but I've compared the source code for both forums, and they're basically the same. Shouldn't behave differently!

The only thing I noticed is that you still have a /forum/Themes/default/mgallery/su/ folder, which means that you probably forgot to uninstall at least one previous version when installing a new one...

My notebook is less than 2 years old. My desktop at school, brand-new. These are not clunker machines. Plenty of speed, gigabytes of ram.

The error that IE gives was posted here previously (go back a page or two and you'll see it).
