SMF Media Gallery (SMG) - 2.0.5 is out! (December 2)

I have searched but couldn't find anything on the following:

1) In firefox, Dewplayer doesn't work for me after uploading an MP3 but IE does work. It shows the graphic but clicking play doesn't stream the files.

2) In firefox, nothing shows under ICON for each album after uploading. In IE, the uploaded ICONS show fine.

I have embed Youtube.. But the thumbnail is missing. How can i repair that?

So i found some small bugs , i will post them how i fixed them, but I'm sure there are better ways for fixing this, because some things should normal not happen .

Apart from the deleted member issue (1st bug), I couldn't reproduce the other bugs, but I added a couple more tests "just in case". Thanks.

Now it will be show the guest as guest... i think there should be a better fix for this *g* (It's only a fist idea to solve it) .

Actually, it doesn't show the guest as a guest... I had to add more code in the template to make sure only "Guest" is shown. Well, according to my tests, it works now.
It's a bit annoying that the user name is not stored when posting a comment... I mean, it *is* done for the item owners after all. Why not for comment owners. I'll add this to my to-do-list. (It should also be integrated into the admin recount area, so that member names are updated where needed, such as comments posted before this is implemented.)

Regarding the album issues -- I think the only way such a problem could occur, is when an album is manually reassigned (via phpMyAdmin) as a child to an album created later. I actually experienced this with the board loader in SMF itself -- I had a child board with an ID lower than its own parent, so it caused issues. (This shouldn't happened on a non-custom version of SMF, don't worry.)

Did you empty your cache? Is this a fresh install or an upgrade? Over what version?

One question, but i think the developper team has mentioned about this.
Some of the Embed gallary script can create the thumbnail from the original video? can the dev team can make it real in the next version?

I don't know what you're talking about.
- Importing thumbnails from websites: it's already the case. I have to add sites manually. So far, I've done it for Youtube, Dailymotion, Google Video and Metacafe (the biggest ones). I added Google Video support today, so it'll be in the final version.
- Generating a thumbnail automatically from a video: this can only be done if you have the FFMPeg library installed on your server. I don't have it, so I can't it. From what I know, it uses the first frame, so you might as well have a black picture if you're not lucky...
- Uploading a thumbnail manually, to go with an existing video: yeah, I'll do it. I don't think it'll be done for 1.5 final, though... Maybe in the next version, who knows. We need to keep some features for the next versions, otherwise who will download them?

First off, I had one of the very first versions of SMF Media Gallery that Dragooon put out and loved it. My test site has progressed to the point where I feel comfortable upgrading to the latest version.
What I need to know is if the AEVA 5.x will work with SMG final? Also, any idea when SMG version 1.5 final will be done. I know y'all are working hard on it, just wondering if you have a WAG (wild ass guess) as to when?
Because of the other mods on my site, I already know I'm going to have to install it manually. Since I am a blind user, I will give you fair warning that I'll probably be back asking for help and possibly crying because I messed something up.
If/when I need help, I have no problem giving access to the site to someone who knows what they're doing to fix whatever may need to be fixed. (for example Dragooon and Nao)

Actually, it will behave even better with SMG (it always has behaved perfectly, btw), since I'm the developer of Aeva 5.0... (And as you may have noticed, I'm co-dev on SMG along with Dragooon.)
I'm trying to think of ways to tie both mods together in a way that will help them use each other's features, just like the latest SMG 1.5 RC now relies entirely on Aeva(c) when it is detected.

Also, any idea when SMG version 1.5 final will be done.

The decision is in Dragooon's hands. He told me he wanted to have a full week without any bug reports before we release the final version.
So far, so good, so it shouldn't be long, but there's this tiny little problem -- one week without programming is too long for me (even with Aeva on my hands), so I already implemented new stuff in the latest revisions... I chose to implement things that would be easy to test, though, so I hope mforum's usual test phase should slash any potential bugs added by my new features.

Of course, we've said that about every other week for the last 6 weeks So you may want to take this with a grain of salt.
Still, I'm confident the current revisions are extremely stable. There will *always* be a few bugs here and there, most notably because of widely varied server configurations (our first beta release has issues with both PHP 4 and SMF 1, which wasn't good... Now, I think even servers in safe mode have less compatibility issues. And when I say safe mode, I say it all. Because they're pretty ******y with web developers.)

We're trying to keep minimal changes to the official SMF files, and do everything in our own files. Which means you'll just have to compare your current install's .xml file to the new install's .xml file, and uninstall/install accordingly.
Depending on your skills as a PHP hacker, it should take you from 10 to 60 minutes at most.

I have just installed this one my games site that I am starting up and I am supper impressed with it especially the embedded video option. For a games site this is a huge plus. Thanks guys for all the hard work on this and I will be looking forward to the release of the next version

You probably misunderstood, yes. I said that I'm the developer of Aeva 5.x, so you don't have to uninstall anything, because SMG is compatible with Aeva, and it will always be compatible, I'll make sure of that myself. Because I'm working on both.

The next big thing to get done is to see if I can get the old ver. of EZ Portal upgraded to the new ver. so as they say "I.O.,I.O. so off to work I go".

I don't know anything about EZ Portal, though.

I had to uninstall the Pageear mod...
