SMF Media Gallery (SMG) - 2.0.5 is out! (December 2)

xx, user albums + general albums on the same page: yes, technically it's possible... no, i won't do it. Because there can be MANY user albums in a website. The homepage is not there for presenting a list of albums -- it's supposed to show a summary of what you can find in the gallery. That is -- latest uploads, random uploads, latest comments, random comments, stats and, lastly, general albums... Which are generally not too many (it's up to the admin's discretion). While user albums are sorted by user, so if you have 10 users who create even only one album, you'll have ten albums to scroll through before you can see the rest of the homepage... Uhoh.

also just realized when i added a icon to a gallery it knocked out all the "folder" icons i moved the photos to another gallery and deleted the one i added a the icon too and still no folder icons

I keep getting this error in the log. This error message appears also on lots of files like MessageIndex.template.php, BoardIndex.template.php amongst others. It keeps refering to line 669. I have install SMG and removed SMFGallery so I don't understand why this should be happening.

Nao i went to a gallery i had named "Bear" and went to edit and set a picture for the gallery icon when i went back to the main gallery page all of the smf media gallery folder icons were gone and only the icon i set for the bear gallery was showing....so i deleted the Bear Gallery and folder icons still never came back

This shouldn't be happening... Yesterday I opened my gallery to the public, and imported an old gallery - all albums were using the folder icon. Each time I selected an icon for an album, I would go back to the homepage and check it out there "in action"... None of the folder icons ever disappeared. :-/

Soms> What version of SMG are you using? Are your language files up to date? Did you install the mod manually? Are you using a different language?

I was trying to figure out how to convert Menalto gallery2 into SMG... I even has a SQL script started and then said the hell with it. 4000 files uploaded into the new galleries. with only a few clicks and some waiting.

Thats not related to SMG...allow_smfgallery_view is an index of SMF Gallery not SMG.

@Nao I am using SMF Media Gallery 1.5 RC 3.2 which I presume is the latest version. And yes, I installed it manually. Yes I am using a different language (Dutch) on this particular forum. But I have a MGallery.dutch.php installed in the same language directory where MGallery.english.php is installed.

@Dragoon. This is happening even though like I said, SMF Gallery is no longer installed.

@Both. The mode is working great, it is just that I get the annoying errors in the log eating up a lot of pages.

Wasn't there a Gallery2 -> Coppermine converter available? Because you could also go that way... It would kept all albums, comments, descriptions, titles, etc... (I guess)

@Nao & Dragoon. 2 minutes after my last post, I saw the light! There was a residual string of SMF Gallery left on index.template.php on line 669 which was causing the error. I have removed the offending string and no more errors. Thanks guys for a great mod.

I hate doing convert to 1, convert to 2 systems... someting always gets bolluxed.

yeah, so I lost he viewcount... we didn't have that many comments and I will re-apply ownership as people tell me which images are theirs.

after I started working on it, the converter from Gallery2 seemed like too much effort for what I actually needed (getting the old images into the new system) especially since I really didn't care about anything else.

Again--I'm in no way related to paying addons, and if anyone needs to be reassured -- I will never release paying addons for SMG. Every "addon" I might make for SMG will be integrated into it.
So, I'm very happy that the final 1.5 version is released, but this announcement, which was made without my knowledge, shouldn't have anything to do with a paying slideshow addon.

With this point made clear -- good luck to Dragooon for his addons.

I am running  1.5 RC 3.2  on SMF 2.0 Beta 4 not sure if I must install this 1.5 version or not. What does it actually do

Upgrading is easy, uninstall old release and install new one.

Hi. Just installed the final version. Well, works okay except that the admin area isn't loading. When I click the admin link in the menu it shows just white space.

However,  my SMF is connected with a Joomla forum. But that wasn't a problem with former gallery versions. The gallery admin center was always correctly loading.

Nonetheless I thought that my SMF 1.12 might be a little outdated. I updated to 1.17, but the gallery admin center is still missing. Anyway at least I have a up to date forum now. lol
I noticed that the admin link works correctly, when I unwrapp the forum and run it stand alone. The problem only occurs, if Joomla and SMF are connected. And only with the actual Gallery version.

Well, whatever it is. It's doutbless something caused by my site configuration. Not by your software.
But what could be that only the admin link doesn't load while all other gallery parts work fine?

We were just trying to say that the announcement topic has all the information and reasons you need to upgrade. 1.5 final is a release which improves the stability of the gallery. It is highly recommended to upgrade.
