We also have SMF Articles for a couple of the guys who are going to write them for the site. Since I didn't see it, is there a way to hide an album? This way, the article writers can put pictures for their articles in a hidden album and link them to the article.
You know, actually, the only reason why I went to search for a gallery system and ended up losing myself in co-developing SMG, is that I wanted to enable my bloggers to upload pics in a hidden area and link to them via a new tag...
Honestly!
Anyway--in the end, I didn't implement that... And I don't know when I'll do it. The problem is that it requires the user to be able to view a picture, and its item page, without being able to browse the album itself. How should I do this, eh? I thought of simply adding a "Disallow album browsing" tag in the album settings that would disable several things ("previous/next" links, album name in the linktree, album view, album link in the album list, etc...), but it's still a lot of work just for that... And I really have to work on Aeva right now...

Flip said there are some errors in the error log that refer to SMG, undefined something or another. He said he had no clue what to do about them.[/quote]
I'll have a look at the error log then...
Oh, and I just noticed your homepage crashes...

QuoteDo you and/or Dragooon need FTP accounts?? If so, I can set them up later.
Later maybe.

QuoteI just got home and have a class this afternoon, so I'm going to take a quick nap.
And, yes, I work the midnight shift. 2300-0700. LOVE it!!! I'm weird like that :)
Yeah I love working at night, too, but my GF wouldn't appreciate...
I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered.

@Nao> Well, I don't know what to say. 2 times now I told you my decision to use RC1 and I asked you friendly and polite, if you can help me to fix this video bug.

But you are simply ignoring either my decision and also my requests. Why is that? :)

Nao 尚

Oh oh... I'm feeling anger here... (And that edit thing... Sounds like it used to be even worse...)

Remember, eh? You're not paying us for your tech support... If you're having problems, we could just say screw up, go use something else. I've been trying to help for several messages, always answering politely, and since I was out of options, I said I couldn't help with an admin access to the gallery. And then you say I'm not helping and I'm not answering. Yay. Good for you. Celdric FTW!

Yeah, you just earned yourself an official SMG seal of "Go see somewhere else, or come back when you'll be ready to let me help you on my spare time with a smile".
I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered.

Dragooon

@Celdric....Its not our fault that you use an older version of the gallery with a bug that was fixed later on. If your page ends up being white when wrapped with Joomla then check the PHP/Apache error logs to know if something actually went faulty. Fixing the error is better than running away from it.

Celdric

#1284
@Dragoon>I remember that I said it's not your fault. :) And my page ends not at all being white.
It is just the Gallery admin page that is showing white. And it is showing white only, when I use the final Gallery version.

Now that this happens might have hundreds of reasons. You and I and could spend problably weeks on seeking because of the tons of other scripts which I have installed and which may cause a conflict.

Anyway, I thought - and perhaps you agree, if you look at it from my standpoint - it's an much easier and reasonable way, when I just use an earlier version where this white admin page issue didn't occur instead to spend much time and work on a probably unsuccessful search.

Though RC1 that I want to use has this video bug. Well, I hoped Nao could provide me with a hint how this bug can be fixed. But it seems to me that he can't help me with this issue. :(

When are you going to understand??

I do NOT know why you have this problem. (Generally, blank admin page = generally, a syntax error inside the admin files themselves, but why on *our* admin files?)
I can NOT fix this without having access to the files to analyze them.
You are obviously not willing to share your files.

Oh well, why do I care answering at this point?

Ain't tech support fun? ;)

Nao 尚

Yeah... I signed up to develop, not to support :P
I quit my main job years ago *because* I was bored with the tech support thingy!

Celdric... "Have you tried turning it off and on again?"

Or even uninstalling and re-installing it again?

ke4obt

well, to start with, we want to give our nod and super-kudos to Dragooon and Nao for helping out us two wannabe site admins. we have always found it a LOT easier, when we ask for help, to allow the devs/support access to the site instead of vetching about it. That would be like taking my car to the mechanic and telling him he could only diagnose the problem by sitting in  the front seat. :)
@Nao, Flip said it was a language file that he edited that crashed the site. He OBVIOUSLY doesn't learn quickly (he's back at the tape recorder, this time a million times). Also, a lot of the errors went away when Flip uninstalled the page view counter and the unique hit counter (now he'll just have to wonder how many hits we get).
Only one last thing we'd like to see for SMG - we're using EZ Portal and you can set up a block to show a random image out of X album. We'd like to have in the block, selectable through the back end, to be able to show a random image out of a random album. Either a "pic of the day", or every time the page refreshes there's a new image.
Nao and Dragooon, even though every thing seems to be hunky dory, we're going to leave your access as it is. Just wanted to let you know we weren't going to "use" your expertise and then dump you to the curb. :D  Also, if you want to use the site to test things out on a different server just to see how they work, that site is just a test site, so it won't bother anything.
BTW - Nao, if you prefer nights and the GF prefers you to be home at night, you have one of two choices - work days (which I guess you already do), or get a new GF who's a night-owl too. :)

Again, Thanks a zillion plus one,
Mickey

ps - if any of this doesn't make sense, my brain is still pretty wasted. I'm going back to bed before I keel over and can't work tonight (which would NOT be a good thing). Mickey
Thanks Much

So, if a mod doesn't install properly, and I can't get help from your part of the forum,
I will come begging for YOUR help since you wrote it and know how it works

Dragooon

@Celdric...Can you please check your PHP and Apache error logs?

Hey, he didn't do it! I'm the one who helps disabled users O:) and pretty girls! 8) Dragooon is the one who helps rude users who don't want to look at their logs and attach files on the board! :'( We both have our specialties! :D

Okay lol I'm stopping with the smileys and the lousy humor  :P I don't mind, just kidding.

Yeah, yeah, good comparison ;)

Quote@Nao, Flip said it was a language file that he edited that crashed the site.
Yes, I can confirm...

QuoteHe OBVIOUSLY doesn't learn quickly (he's back at the tape recorder, this time a million times).
Well I can only imagine how hard it must be to edit a file when it's very large and you're forced to rely on something else than an actual screen to review it... (How does it work? Is it a program that reads the screen out loud? Or is it somehow converted to a Braille version?)

QuoteAlso, a lot of the errors went away when Flip uninstalled the page view counter and the unique hit counter (now he'll just have to wonder how many hits we get).
Hmm... There's a hit counter on SMF... Just look at the stats area... It's not perfect, but at least it allows you to check whether your website is growing or not.

I don't know anything about portals so you'll have to ask someone on the board to help you here. There are blocks for random images available for TinyPortal I think.

Hmm... Makes me think I could add a feature to the [smg] tag... Something like, [smg id=random] (and optional: album=random) would show a random picture from a random (or specific) album...

QuoteNao and Dragooon, even though every thing seems to be hunky dory, we're going to leave your access as it is. Just wanted to let you know we weren't going to "use" your expertise and then dump you to the curb. :D
Well I'll keep your account details for later if you have another problem...

Yeah, well... I'll just wait and see!

I am helping to set up a SMF forum with SMF Media Gallery. I have three quick questions that you could possibly help me with:

1/ on SMF Media Gallery is it possible to remove the code links for HTML and Direct to just leave the BBC code ?

2/ is it possible to have a button that when clicked will copy the code to the clipboard in one action so that it can then just be pasted into the SMF forum posts (ie so the user does not need to highlight and then copy the code)?

3/ having removed the HTML and Direct code options is it then possible to add in different varieties of the BBC code - for instance one that copies thumbnail code, one that copies normal (medium sized) picture code, one that copies full size picture code, etc....?

Many thanks - Mike

Yes, by removing the MGalleryItem.php from your root folder.
Ah, wait--not, it's not available yet. Will be in v1.5.1. I did that change a few days ago and others were asking me for the reason I'd do that... I explained I didn't like the html/direct links ;)
Anyway: wait for v1.5.1

Quote2/ is it possible to have a button that when clicked will copy the code to the clipboard in one action so that it can then just be pasted into the SMF forum posts (ie so the user does not need to highlight and then copy the code)?
He doesn't need to highlight, he just needs to click on the box... (It highlights the code automatically. And if it doesn't, just double-click or triple-click on the input box.)
Err, no, I don't think I'll add that. (I'm not exactly a big fan of everything Javascript.)

Quote3/ having removed the HTML and Direct code options is it then possible to add in different varieties of the BBC code - for instance one that copies thumbnail code, one that copies normal (medium sized) picture code, one that copies full size picture code, etc....?
No. I thought of adding a button to launch a smg tag customizer, but I got lazy. And as I said, I'm not too much of a Javascript addict, and you need Java/Ajax for this kind of tool.
Just click on the Help button if you need a reminder for all you can do :P

As in regular posts, is there a way to censor undesirable words in the comments?
Have it linked to the censored words table some how?

Thanks.

Nao 尚

Hmm... You mean there are people who actually use that feature? ;)

lol.

Now if there is something I missed I apologize, but the censored words don't work on comments and if there is a setting to enable this I couldn't find it.

Thanks.

Nao 尚

Yeah, we don't use censorText() on comments or anything else for that matter, probably because we don't use it...
We will definitely have to add the call, though. It needs to be in line with the rest of SMF.

Dragooon? Opinion?

Hey Nao,

QuoteWell I can only imagine how hard it must be to edit a file when it's very large and you're forced to rely on something else than an actual screen to review it... (How does it work? Is it a program that reads the screen out loud? Or is it somehow converted to a Braille version?)
Quote

First off, my computer has a screen reader that reads most every-thing on the screen,
"leters only for the most part", out loud.
The nice thing is that I am able to lable somethings on websites ie imgs. and photos as long as it's not js. buttons so others useing the same software here the title for the img. / buttons and can nav. there way around the net.

Now for my question, I can't seem to find but one linking code after a img. is posted  and it seems to be "bbc" so I think I'm looking right over it.
Can you point me in the right direction. Also can't find the link that I beleave you said tells you the different opptions the person posting the img. has e.g. Help button or something like that
