k thx, I think I found the right thread anyway. However in the event that I don't get it working. How does Media Gallery differ from Gallery? I might just use it instead.

RustyBarnacle

They do roughly the same thing, display pics and such, but I find the mass upload of this mod to be better than the other one.

Dragooon

No. SMF Gallery and SMF Media Gallery are not inter-related. SMF Gallery is developed by vbgamer45 and SMF Media Gallery is developed by Dragooon(me) and Nao.

To know the differences, try it yourself, I hope you like it :).

LinK187

Ok, well if I don't get a reply from the other thread by the time I get home from work tonight, I'll try this one.

Burke ♞ Knight

SMF Media Gallery has a lot of extra functionality.
I highly recommend it. :)

Yes, Nao, it seems that I have indeed changed my mind about which I like best. :)

By the way, I cannot wait to see what you add next to it. ;)

I can't wait, either!
;D

(Oh, yes, I can wait... I've got this thing called "Aeva" in my way ;))
I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered.

Aeva Media rocks your life.

SMF Media Gallery compared to SMF Gallery Lite, has a lot of extra powerful features, as:

- User Albums
- Mass Upload
- Upload of video and audio files
- Embed video items
- Rating
- A lot of Administration features

RustyBarnacle

Ah yes, I was using the Pro version and was just used to already having all of that, except video.

Burke ♞ Knight

Top quality for SMF Media Gallery:

All those features... For FREE!!!!!!! :) :) :) :)

LinK187

Every time i click install, it hangs and times out... ???

Nothing in error log.

What version of SMF?

Having problems with the package manager?

If running SMF 1.1.7:
SMF 1.1.7: Session verification failed error when installing mods

I am using 1.1.7 however it's not a session verification problem. It simply times out after I click "Install Now" from the package manager. I visited that first link, however that post only has a php file attached with no instructions on wtf to do with it.

Any help is much appreciated.

Edit: ok I figured out how to use the tool. But wtf do i do with this path... it tells me to use it... but the package manager gives me but only few options, "apply mod" "install now" "delete mod" ... there isn't really any place to put the path...

fiveflat

Has the Media Gallery been made to work with SimplePortal yet?

jamonkey1982

Hi All,

I have managed to install the mod fine, the only thing i cant figure out is..

When you click on the Gallery button, the gallery opens fine, however, the gallery button detatches itself from the menu bar and decides to sit in a new position about 1cm down the screen from its original position. (This only happens when you are in the gallery, when you browse elsewhere on the forum, it goes back to its proper place.)

Help  :D

Its a custom theme btw...

www.beardedtheory.co.uk/forum

index template file:
<?php
// Version: 1.1; index

/* This template is, perhaps, the most important template in the theme. It
contains the main template layer that displays the header and footer of
the forum, namely with main_above and main_below. It also contains the
menu sub template, which appropriately displays the menu; the init sub
template, which is there to set the theme up; (init can be missing.) and
the linktree sub template, which sorts out the link tree.

The init sub template should load any data and set any hardcoded options.

The main_above sub template is what is shown above the main content, and
should contain anything that should be shown up there.

The main_below sub template, conversely, is shown after the main content.
It should probably contain the copyright statement and some other things.

The linktree sub template should display the link tree, using the data
in the $context['linktree'] variable.

The menu sub template should display all the relevant buttons the user
wants and or needs.

For more information on the templating system, please see the site at:

Has the Media Gallery been made to work with SimplePortal yet?

It just works fine? AFAIK SP even has a gallery block?

The CHMOD for the folders "mgal_data" and all the folders included in that are set to 777.
Since i have to install my mods manualy (somehow the package manager won´t work on my vServer) i had to guess how to set the CHMODs, because there was no instruction on permissions.

Just a reminder.
I still get that annoying Error-Message mentioned before, when trying to upload something.

Are these all the permissions i have to set or are there more?
Any other ideas, where the problem could be?

Well seeing as no one has replied, my next question is, is a manual install posible? Or is there some DB editing file that needs to be executed by the package manager?

As mforum said you can install manually, upload db_mgallery.php to your SMF's root folder and call it from the browser.
Make sure to backup the files you edit though.
