I just added SMG to my hxxp:www.lethaldosageguild.com/forum [nonactive].  The gallery appears to function fine, but I cannot get the BBC code to work in my forums.  I've tried it with both my site's theme and the default.  I don't know if there is a conflict with Simple Portal or not. The only error in the log is the Utf8 language error. If anyone can help, much appreciated.

Fuzzy

I just checked under my Admin:Forum:Posts & Topics:BBC and [smg] is not listed as a possible code.  Even though it was a successful Automatic install, I just rechecked all the files from the manual install list and all the adjustments are there.  The mgal directory has been adjusted to 777. and I made a new utf8 language file.

So, I'm at a loss as to what could be causing the [smg] code not to work.

That's because it's not a REAL bbc tag. SMF doesn't support self-closing tags with parameters so I wrote my own code for that, and it turned out to be faster so I kept it that way.
It can't be disabled through the BBC admin area, but you can turn it off in the SMG admin area though.

Thanks for the help...  Tried several new topic posts and it worked there fine.  Must have just been the one topic I tried to make.  It had a unclosed code block which must have thrown everything off.

Everything works great now.

Hello there,

I'm looking for a way to integrate this to my forum but i have a few questions that i wonder if it's possible or "in the way" of behind made....

1.  Is it possible to integrate a paymente gateway to buy the user pictures?
2.  Is there any plans to create a watermark option for the pictures?

The ideia is to integrate something similar to deviantart.com into my forum, where user share there knowledge about photography and can earn some money.

Thanks for all the work in this mod, it looks great

Nao 尚

What you're asking for, basically, is a mod on top of the mod.
Moreover, a mod that earns you money.

So let's be blunt: are you willing to pay for these features?

I am using this mod - LOVE IT !! but have a couple of questions.  Have quickly read this thread but it is large so may have missed something relevant.

I'm using 1.5.1 on SMF 1.1.7

Some of my users have uploaded some photos but then later created their own album and want to move their images to their album.  I'm probably really thick but I couldnt see how to do this?  I'll keep looking for an answer but if someone can point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it.

I have a certain user group with the permission to approve their own images but I'd like the process to be automatic.  I ticked auto-approve but it doesnt seem to do this - you submit the image and then have to click "Approve".  This also applies to me as an administrator.  Have I got a setting wrong somewhere?

Should I be upgrading to 1.5.2?  I'm happy with how it is working now but maybe a good reason to upgrade.

cheers
Leah

Helloooo

This has most probably been answered somewhere else... BUT! I can't find anything that helps me...

I've downloaded this, works perfectly, no problems at all... I just can't seem to get it to work with my current theme ---> http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=284319.0

I did what it said on the manually install guide you have on this website, but admittedly it didnt really make sense and what I was looking for wasnt there so the majority of my poking about was just pure guess work...

The gallery is still on my forum, I just don't know how to make that extra tab up top to link to it... in the style of the current theme >.<

Dragooon

Attach the index.template.php of your theme.

Did you get Aeva from the SVN server?
Then you'll need to unzip & rezip it.
I'd recommend using the SM.org mod site version for now. SVN versions are usually untested.

I just had to uninstall SMG from one of my sites. Everything was working great, until today, when all thumbnails and images vanished. No idea how, but that's what I saw when go to look at anything there.

For that site, I'm just going to have the members do the images in posts, since in all reality, that site does not even really need a gallery. However, figured I'd let you know, in case this happens to other people.

SMG 1.5.2 and SMF 2.0 Beta 4.

Just installed and love this mod. Just skipped a Coppermine Gallery for this one

Bu I have a few issues:
When extending the "Max [smg] tags per page", it takes no effect. Still only 10 images are shown. The rest just says the limit is reached.

When I am viewing an image in the gallery, I miss a link to the album that the image is within. Annoying if you want a full view of the album.

It should be possible in admin center of SMG to dissallow users to make their gallery public to guests.

The mass upload is brilliant. I really like the way it works. But it could also be nice to be able to add the comments right away, as each step to do it afterwards is pretty long for each image.

How does users delete their own albums. Is this not possible?

Me too :D

I think it's a known issue from earlier versions... Dragooon, didn't you release a silent update or something with the fix at one point?

(It's just a global variable that needs to be put back where it should be ;))

You mean when you're in an item page...? The album link is in the usual linktree ;)

QuoteIt should be possible in admin center of SMG to dissallow users to make their gallery public to guests.
It's a very specific setting you're asking for... We're trying to keep away from anything that can't be immediately seen as "useful" by users. I really don't see the point in this feature, that's what I mean.

Yeah, it was a real pain to implement :) It kept us awake for a few weeks until we finally settled on a specific implementation that worked for everyone, lol... We're very happy with this one. (And congrats to Dragooon for keeping up with the Javascript debugging! Kiddo's got it all!)

Not for now. It's in my to-do-list though (I posted it a few pages earlier). I need a few more days/weeks on Aeva to make sure it's solid enough to be left alone for some time, and then I'll focus back on SMG.

Ah, of course. But not that obvious for people. I didn't think of it, and I know SMF

Yeah, but if you don't want your server to be used for filesharing, or as in my case it's a family forum with private images; people can suddently without thinking of it, share private images.

When you mass upload images, you can right away give the images a title while uploading. Every time a new image is uploaded, you can name it. As uploading for most people takes time, why not be able to add the description right away. Just i the form of a single line. Most of the time people don't write that much.

I don't really see where we could have put it...
Also, how do you go back to a board while in a topic, if not using the linktree...?
It becomes the logical way to go there, after a while...

QuoteYeah, but if you don't want your server to be used for filesharing, or as in my case it's a family forum with private images; people can suddently without thinking of it, share private images.
From the day they start posting their own user albums, and they see the Guest option, it's their responsability to know what they're posting, and where.
You need to give users a sense of freedom if you want them to use your forum. :)

Yeah, I thought about that, but I think it would make the upload form unnecessarily complex. It might scare users away to have two input fields for each item.

I think the users that are good enough to use and understand the function, will know what to do or quickly learn.

As for the option about making images etc. available for guests, it should at least as standard be set to "No". Then people will have to choose wether to make their images available by links to external users, or they want privacy. I will have to find out how to change it to "No" in this specific forum I'm building.
