It's not the amount or quality of work one of you spend to help users. (I have never seen a mod author like you, who ask so often for admin access to fix things for other webmasters.)

Well I don't know, I think that most of the issues are due to circumstances that have nothing to do with my code. So I try to find them and sort it out so that I can help others later without having to request admin/ftp access.
Yeah, sometimes I do take more time for some people -- I remember spending nearly two fulltime days on a server which was completely broken by dirty installations. I took time to clean up the source files and reinstall several mods, sometimes manually. But I only did that once. I try not to spend more than half an hour on every case.
All in all, my goal is simply to make tech support *easier* for later.

Also, it might be due to the frustration I accumulated at the time when I was working on Kyodai Mahjongg. People would come to me and say, "this here doesn't work, that doesn't work, etc.", and I would try to find what caused the issue, and many times I failed badly. Why? Because the only way for me to fix would have been to go to their place and fix their computer. Actually, I did that once, around 2006 -- a customer who was a couple of miles away from where I live. I just went to his place and fixed KMJ, and I also fixed more stuff on his computer, lol.
Where was I? Ah yes. Website fixing -- it's pretty easy as long as I have admin/ftp access, because I can actually reproduce the bugs locally and try many possible methods for not triggering the error. It can be exciting to do.

I think, it's the wide range of users each of you are reaching. Karl has written a bunch of mods and therefore he reached a bigger audience. You are working on "only" two mods and although the mods are very popular, your audience is smaller.

Plus, he reads all of sm.org, while I only keep myself to a few dozen topics (mostly the SMG and Aeva topics, and topics from the beta tester board.)

Now I'm sorry to hear that you quit. Imho you carried a fresh wind into this community. Some times ago I used to call it "French style". See, I'm from Germany and we are so dump, that we tend to follow our leaders even if they are incredibly stupid bastards. The "French style" is the opposite. If something went wrong, you went to Paris to give somebody a wake-up call (or to behead someone).

Oh yeah, national sports... And we're a country known for its tendency to do strikes for pretty much everything (Not my type of action but I can understand.)

goto the mod page where you downloaded this and chose the manual install for your version of smf. It will show you what code to add/modify on which files and what files to manually copy... also you'll need to run the db_mgallery file in the forum root from a web browser to create the db structure for the gallery...

what ftp program do you use?  I recommend FlashFXP which allows you to to change attribs (chmod) very easily. you can also use raw commands and type "CHMOD 777 filename.php" or "CHMOD 777 directory"
