I was hopeful and tried the .htaccess file but once it was placed in the root directory of my forums everyone got a 500 error and couldnt reach my site any longer.

Odd. Was it just a regular user or everyone having the mass upload problem?

Harvester

They are global moderators who are having this problem... I have tried it on both my laptop and my pc... as global mod and as admin and it works fine for me. I have also used both IE and FIrefox and it works for me too.

I have the global mods permissions set with a check in everything but moderate gallery, administrate gallery and create user gallery and autoapprove usergallery.

Is there some sort of flash or java update they need? could it be firewall related? or something of the like... I find it odd that it works fine for me on all my pcs but not for these two members.... Ive been trying to find out how it works from more members but its kind of late and I cant get in touch with many at the moment.

I would find out if they have something in common and focus on that. Operating system, browser, security software, networking hardware, isp, etc...

I'm running vista ultimate x64 myself.. any problem I had was fixed by the .htaccess file and was irrelevant to my os.

Also when you test the mass upload, are you selecting more than 1 file to test with?

Harvester

ok they all can all upload a single file.. but mass upload doesnt work. clicking the upload button doesnt do anything when they try mass upload.. and yes they are using a couple files at a time when using mass upload

Its almost as if the "upload" button isnt even functioning.

LinK187

I'm not sure really... Have Nao take a look.

Again--- Mass upload problems:

1/ Does the upload even START? Yes-- See 2. No-- See a & b.
a- is Flash + Javascript enabled at all? Yes--continue. No--enable them.
    b- do you use different domains/subdomains? No--no luck. Yes--use the crossdomain.xml method.
2/ Does the upload start but stall at 100%
- try the mod_security fix. If it doesn't work--no luck.

In this case, it's (1), and I guess solution b. So it's a 1b -> crossdomain.
I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered.

Lol, me too.

This was working fine for me as well on a previous version of the gallery.

This will get sorted, mine is on a test site and theres quite a bit of time before it goes live so no rush for me.  IMO it's well worth waiting for.

I just stopped by at Nao and Dragooons site and there was a post there from someone who altered his settings in SMF from http://www.yoursite.com/forum to http://yoursite.com/forum and the mass upload started working.

I thought it sounded a bit odd but tried it on mine. Mine was actually set at http://yoursite.com/forum which was the reverse of the OP's situation but changed mine to http://www.yoursite.com/forum and yes, you've guessed it - problem solved!! ;)

Nao, any idea when you might have a new release with some of the stuff you are working on? A couple of weeks, a couple of months?

Harvester

by crossdomain what do you mean? I have my site at www.mysite.com/forums/  and I have my gallery installed in the default directory from that point. I dont believe I am using different domains/subdomains unless I am misunderstanding what you are calling crossdomain.

Just like I said--- different subdomains ;) ("www" and empty subdomain.)

@mark> I don't know... I'm quite busy on Aeva right now so I won't get back on SMG before next week or the week after. Don't expect any major update until mid-March, really.

@Harvester> Really... Do a search!!

ok.. then i am not using any different domains or subdomains... so why would crossdomain help me?

Also, it works perfectly on my two PCs.. I can mass upload all day long.

It just seems to be a few members that cant... I have asked 5 members to test it out and out of those 5... 5 cant do mass upload...

one of them reinstalled Java but it didnt help her. I have flash banners on my site and they can all see those.. so I assumed that they have flash enabled.

do you think its java related?

Harvester

I have a few general questions about this mod also...

max album size... I am assuming the number in the settings is bytes... how large can this number safely be? also, the amount of files in an album... how large can this safely be. Can I set this to a few hundred and be good?

1.5.5 Seeing as it's the newest version with the most bug fixes lol. Look on the mod page and it shows you that it's compatible with smf1.1.8 .

Harvester, don't you think it would help if you posted the link to your mass upload page...?
That way, we can debug the javascript calls...

Also, did you give the proper rights to their membergroups?
