Im not understanding what is happening here... I am trying to upload .wmv videos to my gallery. I have the max file size set to 10240kb and my max size of a directory is set to 1000000000 with a max of 400 files allowed.
I have been uploading jpgs averaging between 50 and 700k with no problems. I have also upload several videos that are 1meg or smaller with no problems. Now I am trying to upload two videos   one is just shy of 5meg and one is shy of 3meg but everytime i try to upload them I get "An error happened during the upload process, please try again or contact the administrator. "

I checked, double checked and triple checked my settings but I cant see any setting that may be causing this error. Please help. I have a TON of videos to upload from the recent event I attended and if I cant upload videos of this size I am royally screwed.

Thank you

It's likely a limitation set by your host.

I highly doubt that. I have unlimited storage space and unlimited bandwidth. I can upload files of any size to my server without a problem. largest I have uploaded to date has been 500 meg. I wouldnt think a 5 meg file would give me any problems. I will call and check with my host right now though.

I just tried to upload a file 1987kb and it went no problem.

True, but when you uploaded that 500mb file it was likely via ftp. Through the forum could be interpreted as a different user with different permissions/quotas...

nope just got off phone with host and they say they have no limitations so it is definitely something with the gallery itself.

I have no idea what it could be within the gallery though. I know very little about code. All I know is I definitely need to be able to upload videos of some substantial size to the gallery. I am messing with 5 meg vids now but I have some vids that I know once i edit them and save them they will more than likely be in the area of 25+ megs.

Please help me fix this so the gallery will let me upload large files.

Thank you

To be honest, I don't even know if it's a reality. I was just thinking about how executables work in windows, many are run by the system, while others by users. The users and the system have diff permissions. So I surmised that since the forum itself was performing the action, that maybe different permissions apply even tho your host has given your ftp user account unlimited permissions.
I'm really just scrounging for an answer really. Dragoon or Nao would be able to confirm my hypothesis tho...

I remember reading something about this many pages back. I find it hard to believe 12mb is the limit. Nao or Dragoon should be able to advise you in more detail.

I have no idea what you're talking about, lol :D Just woke up.
But I see it was just about the php.ini stuff, not surprising ;)

Are you sure the data folder is correctly set in the SMG admin area?

Sorry Nao, was typing late last night...

when i try to regenerate thumbnails...figured i would give that a shot...i get this

QuoteError, file not found! (/home/ffingers/public_html/albums/My_first_bike/Dir_1/8_P0007202_JPGdbcca2c1cae5e1024168cc74f232f929_extjpg)

If i "find errors" i get this...

QuoteThe following errors were discovered when searching for errors

    * The physical file #1564, used with item #535, is missing.

for pretty much every image....

now i have checked to see if the above file path is correct and sure enough, the path is correct AND the file is there...i am completely baffled as to how things aren't showing up...

EDIT: i am pretty handy with mysql so if it's a matter of checking if values changed, let me know, i have no problem hopping into phpmyadmin and checking on values....

the only thing i can think is maybe the counter which i am assuming is the primary id got messed up, but i don't know...

Dragooon

What is the value for Admin > Gallery > Settings > Data directory path? What are the subfolders in your forum's root?

Harvester

I am not sure if this is already possible or not for 1.1.8 but if it isnt i think it would make a great addition....

RIght now as it is, my users must go to the gallery to see if there are any new images or videos.
I think it would be great if there couldbe some sort of notice about how many new images or videos have been added to the gallery since their last visit or on that day or that week (whichever makes more sense)
I think it would be good if this was uptop next to "read new posts since your last visit" or if it was down below the forum near the calender event section.

Even better i Think would be is if near the calender event section down at the bottom.

I through together a quick illustration of what I am speaking of...

something like this I think would be great. thumbnail size and wording of course are just for the purpose of this example.
