I am not sure if this is already possible or not for 1.1.8 but if it isnt i think it would make a great addition....

RIght now as it is, my users must go to the gallery to see if there are any new images or videos.
I think it would be great if there couldbe some sort of notice about how many new images or videos have been added to the gallery since their last visit or on that day or that week (whichever makes more sense)
I think it would be good if this was uptop next to "read new posts since your last visit" or if it was down below the forum near the calender event section.

Even better i Think would be is if near the calender event section down at the bottom.

I through together a quick illustration of what I am speaking of...

something like this I think would be great. thumbnail size and wording of course are just for the purpose of this example.

I like this idea as well.

Well, there's the "unseen" area already.

And as for adding code to the home page: no, no, no and no. We might do it in SMG 2.0 which will be SMF 2.0-only (and SMF 2 allows you to install theme changes automatically in your preferred themes), but not before.
I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered.

You have to be logged in to download the file.

Edit: and aparently to see the images.

thank you :D

It's just showing the last 7 images, nothing else. Making an unseen list could be hundrets - if not thousends of files depending on peoples last visit.

What's the link to it? (if you're referring to the one about showing recent gallery items on front page...)

thanks Nao and Dragoon, i figured it out, it was a combination of both messed up paths and moving of the host...

long story short, it was ALL user error (as it most likely always is)....i thought i had tried the path i had before, but obviously it was one combination i hadn't tried (my new host has a few different ways to designate the SAME path...yeah i know)....

also the images were all trashed, but i hadn't realized that because SMG does not leave the extension as .jpg but rather removes the extension in a way, that FTP clients like mozilla that autodetect whether to use ascii or binary will determine the images to be ascii thus messing up the images...so i transferred them again in binary and now all is well...

sorry for the mix up...it was late last night when i was doing my host transition...

question:

Is there anyway to set it so that I can make it so specific general albums can not be uploaded to by anyone but me or specific user groups? I want my members to be able to upload to all the general albums but a couple of them. Those couple I want only myself and my staff to be able to upload to BUT I want everyone to be able to view those albums and its contents.

No but I do got plans for per-album permissions.

As for myself, I'm trying to resume work on SMG. It's tough. What I basically want is to be done with all of my thumbnail/preview changes from last month, which I never got to commit because they were flawed. Well, they still are... :(

I'm really looking forward to your changes to the gallery home page Nao :D

Nao 尚

Well I'm not working on that for now... I want to finish what I started last month, really.

Finally got one through: http://media.noisen.com/item/662/ - http://media.noisen.com/item/671/
As you can see, audio & video items now have a *preview*, in addition to a thumbnail. That means, if you upload a large thumbnail, the thumbnail will be the same size as all other thumbnails, but a full-size version of the thumbnail will also be stored as a preview.

I also fixed a bug where, whenever you would force a new thumbnail manually, the actual physical file for the previous thumbnail wasn't actually deleted. I never noticed that until today :(

Tonight or tomorrow, I will attempt to put an end to my misery regarding the rewriting of the "regenerate" feature. I would like it to stop deleting my custom thumbnails, lol. I thought I'd fixed it, and then I relaunched a regen session and it still disappeared. Eheh.
