is it possible with SSI to give smg another theme then the forum?
if it is,  could someone tell me how?

I hope this is the thread for some support for SMG, if not please dont roast me  :D.

I have a SMF 2.0 rc1 site with SMG 1.5.4 that was working beautifully only my webhost was fail.. so to make a long story short, I have moved my site to a new webhost that is much better only I purchased an extra domain name (same name only a .net instead of .com) while I am waiting on my name transfer.   Also my home folder name on the new server is different than the old (one character less).

so I uninstalled all mods.  copied all files to the new host.  imported the database. Ran "repair_settings.php". then I reinstalled all the mods.  All the gallery entries are there... only no images are ever displayed (I have tried using SMG 1.5.4 and 1.5.6 and same results with either one).

here is a link so that you can see what I am saying.

http://gwgoodolddays.net/forums/index.php?action=mgallery  no thumbnails, no pictures.

Is it possible it is looking for the pictures/thumbnails in the wrong location (because my user name on the webhost is different) due to the move?

It says "File not found" when you try to download the files directly by their URL...
You probably entered a wrong address for your mgal_data folder?
I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered.

where/how do I change that?

I knew you guys could figure it out in about 2 minutes

Uh well in the SMG admin area, there's a place in the general settings where you set the target folder for your albums...

Sometimes my stupidity amazes even me!

Thanks so much Nao!  Issue solved.

Can anyone help with this problem? I am using 1.1.8 and I recently added the SMF Gallery Lite 2.0.5. I'm also using a theme called REDSIS. The problem is that I do not have a link button on my tool bar to direct members to the new gallery. If I revert back to the default theme the link is there though.  I have no idea how to edit the files in my theme. If someone could give me REALLY good instructions on how to do this or possibly help me do it I would really apprreciate it. Thanks!

TomW

JBHolden, you need to edit the index.template.php file, plus you must edit modifications.english.php if there is a separate version for REDSIS.  Editing modifications.english.php is very simple; you simply cut and past the changes to the end of the file, before the '?>'.  Index.template.php can be more difficult.  Ask the theme author for assistance.  If they are unable, I'm sure that someone else could help you.  Attach the file to a post.

Tom,
I tried asking the theme author but they don't speak english so that's out. Though you say this is simple I still don't feel comfortable doing it unless I had more specific instructions with some examples. How do I find these files to edit them and do I need a special program to do the edits?

Tiribulus

You find the matching sections in the files of the same name for your theme and duplicate those edits there. Use something like Notepad++ which is free and takes 30 seconds to install on a Windows box.

If you plan on doing a fair degree of modding of your forum this is something worth learning in my opinion. The further from default the site gets the more improvised surgery is likely to become necessary. The key is to ALWAYS backup your files before doing the edits. That way even if you were to botch the thing beyond all hope all you have to do is copy back the one before the edits and you're back in business.

Seriously, stuff like this not that hard, like everybody is telling you, once you get the hang of it and as long as you keep backups the danger is minimal.

Forgive me  if this has been answered but I cannot find it in here, how can I display the albums horizontally instead of vertically?

I am not sure but you'll need some serious recoding there.

Hi
Everytime I try and click on my gallery albums i get this error:
Method Not Implemented  :-[

GET to /index.php not supported.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Ive tried uninstalling gallery lite and reinstalling Media gallery, but i have the same error on both mods only whe i want to view the gallery pics.
Ive contacted my Host and they said:

Hello Sir,

There is a problem with your script. GET parameter works perfectly on server, but your script doesn't accept it for unknown reasons. We have hundreds of customers using GET without problems on same server
I will be pleased to answer any additional questions you may have.

Is there any way i can sort this script. GET parameter out?

Many thanks for your help

P.S i have limited php knowledge, but im willing to give anything a try.

Thanks for the reply! :D
Where do i go see if i have mod security enabled? In the control panel?

kevjkel

I created phpinfo.php with this code:<?php phpinfo(); ?>
I placed in my website base folder, and point my browser (firefox) to it.
I then get this error: Warning: phpinfo() has been disabled for security reasons in /home/zaparen/public_html/phpinfo.php on line 1 :(

Dragooon

Your host definitly doesn't know anything about security. Ask your host.

kevjkel

Thanks, will do.
But i still dont understand how to get mod security disabled. After getting the phpinfo.ini to work what then?
