FTP Feature:

I'm having an issue with using FTP.  I have uploaded 2 subdirectories each with 25 and 27 files in them.

The first directory shows zero files, and the second directory shows only 11 files.  Am I missing something?  I looked at the permissions in Linux, and they seem okay. (755)

Please help!  thanks!!

Assuming your FTP client uploaded them all, are you sure that all the file-types are on the Allowed Doc List, and/or are in the proper media formats?  If they aren't, they won't show up in the Admin FTP area of SMG.

Senkusha

Thanks for the quick reply! :)

Looks like that's my problem.  How do I add a file type?  I need to add the "rmvb" video format.  I've looked in the Settings, but all I see is file types for Documents.

Thanks!

Amusing... I thought realvideo movies were supported in the list. That was because one of my test vids is a RM movie.
I just had a look, and actually, I had inserted a local URL with the RM link... So it was accepted by Aeva and thus by SMG.

If you need it ASAP, just open Subs-MGallery-Vital.php and add:

'rm' => 'application/vnd.rn-realmedia',
'rmvb' => 'application/vnd.rn-realmedia-vbr',

To:

'rv' => 'video/vnd.rn-realvideo',

Should do the trick...

Also, the admin area only lets you *disable* some file types. I discussed earlier the possibility of allowing users to change the filetypes through the database. Maybe I'll do it.
I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered.

Am unable to enter the admin area.

There is only one picture in the gallery.

Hmm, 8M is not a lot of memory... Not wonder it crashes.
Ask your host to set this to 32M, it's the new default in recent versions of PHP.

That did the trick!  Thank you!

Also, I was wondering about a couple of things...

1.  Is it possible to make the Album Icon center, middle, instead of left, top?

2.  I noticed that while I copied/pasted from Download System (edit mode) to Gallery, it left in the &quot and &amp instead of translating them correctly. (The source was the problem.)

3.  Would it be possible to add in integration from the SA Shop?  What I would like to do is deduct a number of "points" based on the file size for viewing something from the Gallery.  Also, to add a number of points (based on file size again) for submitting things to the gallery.

4.  Sometime in the future, would it be possible to add a "multiple-move" function?  It's no big deal, just really time consuming if you've got a large gallery, and need to move things around for better organization. ;)

Thanks!

Oh, and I think I found a bug too....when I tried to FTP upload two directories (in an earlier post) I noticed that everything but two files (duplicates I think) all went into the first file folder, instead of going to where I assigned them to go.

THANKS

Hey, just wondering how ya made out?  Does everything work for ya?  Since we're on the same SMF version, wanted to see if I'm the only one with the mass upload problem.

I need to find the time to upgrade to SMF 2.0

Can I insert images from external servers through URLs?

Deju

This mod looks so nice... on other people's sites  :(

Installed the latest version.  Admin section looks solid, but it won't show up in the forum.  Do I need to add a block or something?  I'm sure it's so easy.  Sorry.

Not for now. It's in my plans for v2.1 or something. If people remind me of it in time. :P

Hi,

I have somehow managed to bork the gallery install - I now have two links to 'gallery' on the main page, (I did have three until I uninstalled the package) and now I cannot uninstall the package again as its already uninstalled.

I did uninstall the old version, before installing the new one, but it seems that some of it hung around, and now its duplicating stuff.

Before I go ahead and bork the whole forum trying to fix it, do you have any special advice how to manually uninstall mgallery completely and start again? My first guess is to work backwards through the manual installation instructions, but I am not sure if thats a complete uninstall or not... (database tables and all files etc) I have downloaded all the pictures to a local directory on my PC, so I'm not afraid of deleting database references and files etc, but I thought it best to ask before I do.

Your help would be most appreciated,

Kind regards
Jim

Database should be fine. Files too. You only need to care about the manual instructions indeed, in reverse of course.

Is there a way to make the album thumbnails clickable?  This would be a nice addition to the mod.

Thanks,

For clarification, I meant hotlinking images :)

1.  Is it possible to make the Album Icon center, middle, instead of left, top?
Uhhh...
I tend to be very cautious about layout (at least layout I create myself -- there are many layouts that Dragooon did and I tend to ignore them until they really start to get in my way, such as the Search page which I redesigned for RC2), so it's a deliberate choice on my part.
What is your reason for requesting this?
BTW, album icons are already horizontally centered... They're aligned to the top for design reasons really.

Quote2.  I noticed that while I copied/pasted from Download System (edit mode) to Gallery, it left in the &quot and &amp instead of translating them correctly. (The source was the problem.)
I'm not sure what you're talking about. Download System, edit mode? Is that a mod?
Did you copy in wysiwyg mode or something?

Quote3.  Would it be possible to add in integration from the SA Shop?  What I would like to do is deduct a number of "points" based on the file size for viewing something from the Gallery.  Also, to add a number of points (based on file size again) for submitting things to the gallery.
I don't know what "SA Shop" is.
Plus, I tend to only add compatibility code for stuff I use. I don't do (much) integration either. I integrated Aeva because it's mine, but I only added some custom code for PrettyURLs (to facilitate its integration), because I don't believe it's up to me to write integration for it. It's not hard to do.

Quote4.  Sometime in the future, would it be possible to add a "multiple-move" function?  It's no big deal, just really time consuming if you've got a large gallery, and need to move things around for better organization. ;)
Checkbox-based, you mean? Well I would first have to add said checkbox...
The problem is that MANY people ask for MANY features that are not totally uninteresting, and I say "yes, I'll think about it", but then there are other things that come up and I forget about them.
Ideally, someone would keep track of all the interesting feature requests somewhere, and then I could pick stuff out of the stack whenever I run out of things to do myself. (If it ever happens :P)
I believe I've had about 10 interestiing feature requests these last few weeks, but no way to really track them down.

QuoteOh, and I think I found a bug too....when I tried to FTP upload two directories (in an earlier post) I noticed that everything but two files (duplicates I think) all went into the first file folder, instead of going to where I assigned them to go.
I didn't get this problem. (All of my Foxprog albums were imported through the FTP upload feature, which brought me the opportunity to help debug the feature which was pretty much broken at that point.)

@RGecy> done.

Errr...
I'm not exactly sure of the point.

Instead of uploading an image to my server, I'd like to add an image link (imageshack, photobucket) to the gallery.

Nao 尚

Why not post these pictures somewhere on a topic of your forum? :P

Plus, I could do something quick for actual image URLs, but not for imageshack and photobucket which send you a thumbnail or a complete html page with the image inside... I don't have such fond memories of debugging the lookup features in Aeva, honestly :P
