@Captain> I'm not really sure what you're trying to achieve...?

@Tiribulus> Can you give me a step-by-step on how to reproduce this?
You may want to give it a try on noisen.com's gallery. I've enabled caching for you to try.
If this involves creating a [smg] tag post somewhere (I'm not sure where your error happens?), please use Aeva's [Test] Video Embedding topic. I've already got YouTube's Where the hell is Matt video in the Central gallery if you need an embed video.
I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered.

All I did was enter an untagged url to my other server. It auto tagged it [url] and it worked until I refreshed the page and then there was just the blank background css color with no player. The link was still there though. I disabled caching as per the suggestion in the post at smf-media and it starting working properly even after several page refreshes. As dumb as it was, I didn't think to look in the error log.  I uploaded a video where you said @ noisen, but I started a gallery first because I was trying to do too may things at once and didn't read this post closely. You can just delete it.

If need be I can reproduce it on my server.

I don't get it..... Are you telling me that your problems happen when posting a video link inside a message?

This has absolutely nothing to do with SMG...!

No, in SMG. I start a gallery, go to add an item in the form of a url to a video clip, no tags just the url, and if caching is enabled it does the above display fine once then disappear on refresh thing.  With caching disabled it works fine. Everything I was saying about the empty space etc. is on the page for the video in the gallery in SMG. Another weird thing is it's keeping the icon from a previous test that I deleted.

The first shot is the page for uploading the media.

The second is how it looks after uploading it and the third is how it looks after I simply refresh the page (F5)

This is with caching enabled. If I disable caching it persists after the refresh. I've only tried it logged in as admin now that I think of it. No errors in the log BTW.

This is another thing that isn't the end of the world for me, I'm just telling you in case it helps you. However, I think I know you by now and it will nag at you until you know why this is happening. :)

Update: I just now went into the gallery the normal user way, not within the SMG CP and the video is there, but it does still have the icon from the old one. I dunno man.

Update2: OK, now it is back to image number three below. It seems like If I don't go in for a while it;s there and then refreshing makes the player disappear again. If you want to look for your self it's here: http://gregnmary.gotdns.com:8080/index.php?action=mgallery;sa=item;id=555 caching is still enabled.

tumbleweed...   I suggest uninstalling that version and installing the newest version.
However, The error indicates the problem. Someone deleted a file through the file system, not through the gallery.

Bogus...   the mod did not install correctly (probably becase another mod moved some of the code around. Look in modifications.english.php and index.template.php

Thank you for your reply.

If I unstall and re-install thru the admin center. does it also delete the folders were the pictures are. And If this is the case. what folders would I rename so as not to delete the pictures.

As far as the error goes. I uploaded a pic myself and went right to the gallery admin area. That is were I found the error. I am unsure how the mod works to create the files that go with the picture so as one may call it up.

Thanks

I've gone though a half dozen versions of this mod, uninstalling and reinstalling and it has never lost a single file of mine. Maybe a path or permissions issue with the missing file?

LHW

@tumbleweed: You can also try going into the Maintenance jobs and regenerating the Previews.

Tiribulus, it would have been faster for me to debug your problem if you had given a link immediately... ;)
What happens here is that Aeva handles the showing, but it expects the swfobject script to be loaded. However, it isn't the case when caching is enabled, apparently... So I'll try to simply add the swfobject headers when caching is enabled and Aeva is being called. This should account for all cases...
The problem will be entirely gone (i.e. no need for a hack) when I release Aeva Media, I guess. I'll just need to remember I can remove the hack ;)

Edit -- actually it'll be simpler to just disable swfobject altogether when calling Aeva with caching enabled. You just won't get the "Normal size | Large size" options, I'm afraid... But better than nothing! Or should I simply disable caching for embedded objects?! Even better?

Tentative fix for you, Tiribulus. Open MGallery-Embed.php, line 29:

$msg = parse_bbc(substr($message, 0, 4) == 'http' ? $msg : $message);

Replace with:

$context['smg_hack'] = true;
$msg = parse_bbc(substr($message, 0, 4) == 'http' ? $msg : $message);
unset($context['smg_hack']);

Does it work?

What kept you I was beginning to worry  :D

I suppose that would have been a good idea huh?

Yep, your fixed worked. Thank you sir. I do appreciate your hard work. I have to wonder though why more people weren't reporting this. It seems like something that would be fairly widespread.

I'm pretty sure the reason I can't generate my own thumbnails is because ffmpeg has thus far steadfastly refused to play nice with Apache on my server which there's nothing you can do anything about.

Is it possible that under the upload file form for pics,
to place an box to "upload" pictures with an url (image upladed at imageshack or something)

Hello All,

I installed SMF Media Gallery v2.0.4 successfully yesterday but was unable to achieve the following after creating a folder or album:

1. I cannot upload. It was complaining of image is wider and size is bigger, which was not.
2. After the album is created, I cannot open it. It keeps redirecting me to homepage.
3. The album could not be edited.
4. I cannot upload to the album.
5. I experienced this at both admin and members' level.

Please help me out.

Thanks.

Hello Nao
I´m about to install SMG, but don´t have that much space left in my hosting account.
Would it be possible to place the image folder on another server?

Hello,

I got this error...
This album's directory couldn't be properly created, please make sure mgal_data and mgal_data/albums are chmodded to 0777

I checked both files and all the rest, but I have em set to 777. I don't know why this error is occurring?

Let me know what to do...
Thank You!
